I gave this to my one-year-old for Christmas. She plays with it a lot and really likes all the animals. It's such a cute toy that is also educational in many ways. She can learn the names of animals and the sounds they make, but she can also practice opening and closing the barn, which takes some dexterity. The Velcro is pretty strong, so she initially had trouble opening it herself. Now she's a pro at it. She's also figuring out how to make the animal noises come on (by squeezing the animals, each in a different spot). The toy seems to be well made. I don't know how long the batteries will last, but they're still going strong. The only semi-negative thing I have to say is that the animal sounds are kind of loud and there's no way to adjust the volume. And once you hit the button, the sound plays three times. So don't accidentally squeeze one while everyone else is asleep!

My grandaughter received this toy at her first birthday party and it was an instant hit with her. It is very well made and durable. Her little hands can squeeze each animal to make the sounds, and she loves ducks, which this reenforced...."uck", one of her first words. As a retired early childhood educator, I think this is an excellent value for a young toddler, rich in many language and cognitive development areas: teaching animal sounds, counting, colors, putting in and taking out, open and close, etc. I think it is something that would interest a young toddler for a long time. It's also very soft and would be a nice safe toy for car rides. I was happy to find this on Amazon, after seeing hers so I could purchase one as a gift.

We bought this for our youngest daughter for Christmas (at the time she was 8 months old) at first, she giggled at the animals when we'd make them make sounds. Now she is 13 months old and just LOVES going to get her barn for us to play with! I thought at first the construction of the barn wasn't going to hold up against her banging and sitting on it, etc, but it has! She can now identify all the animals and is working on being able to say what sounds each one makes! LOVE THIS TOY!!! Would very much recommend it to anyone looking for something "not so traditional" that they sell at the store but still is just as fun! My daughter LOVES it - and so do I!!!

I did not like the size fo this product, or the flimsy cardboard sides and roof of the barn. Quality overall was disappointing. One of the animals didn't make a sound. The smaller barn was much better made, and more suitable to a toddler. I am going to return it.

This has become our 14 month old daughter's travel toy of choice. The animals are cute, durable, and just the right size for her. I was a bummed when I realized these guys are no longer made with the names of the animals printed on them. No worries though. Also, the rooster's "hair" would get pulled out and in my daughter's mouth, so we had to put him up for a while. Now she is a little older we gave him back to her. Over all a great toy that we almost never leave the house without, which is a huge testament to how much my daughter loves these guys! Now that the safari set has gone down in price, I think we might pick those dudes up too!

I have given this item as a newborn gift many times. So far the recipients have all been the younger sibling in the family and I have learned the older child(ren) enjoys the gift as much or more than the intended recipient! Each child's parent who has received the gift names a different character as the child's favorite. They all love to teethe on them. The first barn I purchased was in Cowtown down in Ft Worth Texas, it was much more expensive than what I found on Amazon and I believe it had a horse rather than a rooster. I was pleasantly surprised to find a similar item on Amazon. I have never had any issues with delivery or quality. This is a great newborn gift that keeps the child's attention for several years.
