I was very skeptical the first time I tried this. I easily get ingrown hairs on my neck when I shave and the reviews I read were promising. First, be aware this product is very, very dark green. I started washing my face, which turned almost black, and freaked out. Fortunately, once you rinse off, you couldn't even tell it was dark. This product has virtually stopped my ingrown hairs after shaving and I take it anytime I travel overnight. It has a very refreshing minty fragrance that I like as well. This is a good quality product. I have been using it for several days, and we are in the midst of the Northeast heat dome with record setting temperatures in June of 2024. It has been absolutely fantastic to come in from watering in the garden and wash my face with this refreshing scrub. It lathers really well and I feel as though it removes the sweat and grime easily. It is quite gentle as compared to many other scrubs. I would really describe it more as a face wash with just a bit of gentle grit in it. One thing that really surprised me was that it comes out of the tube in an almost black color! I am going to post a photo of that. It lathers up into a gray lather and does not leave any dark residue on your face at all, but I found it to be unusual. My June 2024 order of ‘Atwater Skin Armor Face Scrub [Built for all skin types], 3.4 fl. oz.’ arrived in a recyclable plastic tube with an intact under-the-lid consumer protection seal. Instead of a specified expiration date, the tube displays the ’12M’ symbol, which means the product should be used within twelve months of unsealing the tube. This scrub is ‘Made in USA with globally sourced ingredients’. The color of the scrub is a bit shocking when you first see it; very dark green, but appears black in your hand. (Made me glad I use face scrub in the shower instead of at the sink.) The scrub does create a weak lather with some rubbing, and you can feel the jojoba beads in your hands as very small round beads which provide a mild (and I’m sure very gentle) scrub. The scent is pleasant without being overpowering or chemical. After using for several weeks I’ve had no issues (no adverse reactions or outbreaks on my face). I appreciate the advantages this scrub offers (hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, etc); I prefer these characteristics in all the lotions and creams I use. This does seem to be a scrub with very mild abrasion which some will like and some may not. I’ve usually used scrubs with more abrasion, but I’m going to stick with this Atwater scrub for the entire tube — if it does the job well enough, then using a more abrasive scrub is probably not necessary and might save some wear and tear on my face. Husband got to use it and he says it’s definitely better than his face wash, absolutely hands down it’s great. He works on jobs site on the heat or cold with skin always exposed to elements, this scrub most definitely gentle yet removes everything nicely. I wiped his face with a toner after scrub and it was completely clean. High quality, 0 reactions and cleans and sooted at the same time. This face scrub is quite gentle for an exfoliating scrub. I actually like that it is more gentle than your typical exfoliating scrubs since I have found others too harsh on my sensitive skin. It has a mild pleasant scent. I also like that it contains salicylic acid for my acne prone skin. The color of the scrub is almost black which was definitely a choice.
