Tall enough to tuck jeans in. Higher than ankle bootie, but not too high. Not too tight at calf. Have somewhat of a cowboy boot style but if you really want them for country dancing, they won't slide like you need to really dance-- they are grippy (but good for slick conditions probably)... Also, to be picky, toe is rather rounded. I still like them enough to keep, and they are cute and not dramatic. They are smooth but not slick leather-look--more of a sueded texture, so am worried they won't hold up in rainy or snowy weather... FOLLOWUP: worn in home with socks to try-out and the front toe area is very stiff and hurt my toes even if roomy enough. Will likely return/exchange for larger size to wear thicker socks.

The lining of the boot scratched my skin and made it very sensitive even with socks on. The material created an allergic reaction that made me take the boots off after about 30 seconds of wearing them. The lining of a boot should be smooth not rough and grating. I have never had this freaky experience before. Comfort is very important and the manufacturer could have spent a little more money to have a lining that was not caustic.
