The only way to get 144 Hz from these monitors is to use a DisplayPort cable, however ASUS doesn't see fit to include these in the box, even though I've read some reviews and answered questions that claim otherwise. This is probably because this particular model (VG248QZ) is lumped in with two different monitors on one page, with reviews and questions from each combined into one large pool with information that doesn't necessarily relate to every monitor on the page. This wouldn't be a problem, except I didn't know the cables weren't included until I opened the box, at which time I had to go to a local store to buy the cables. Long story short, 7 different stores were either sold out or didn't carry them, so now I'm stuck waiting two more days for prime shipping to deliver new cables. Again, this wouldn't be an issue if there was a "What's in the box?" listing specific to each monitor. I'm rating one star because Amazon shouldn't allow this, and ASUS shouldn't advertise 144 Hz if it can't operate at 144 Hz out of the box.

At first I wrote a bad review about having a washed out monitor like others complained. I was contacted by support and asked about calibration. I checked and found that the reason it was washed out was because of how high the brightness was by default and the mode it was on. I recommend applying the following settings if anyone experienced that: Splendid Mode: Standard Contrast: 80 Brightness: 35 Color Temp: User RGB Red 96 / Green 94 / Blue 88

Just got the monitor set up and took it for a test run after looking up the recommended settings. It is definitely 144hz and has the HD snap to it, I could tell right away just by how the mouse looked moving it around the screen. All you freaks that don’t know how to google or don’t have a computer capable of doing 144hz need to get it together. Stop slandering this product. It is a very solid 144hz monitor for the price so far.

Pros: -Exceptional adjustment options. Makes it really easy to position exactly how I want to quickly and painlessly. The vertical slide adjustment is my favorite feature. -144hz is buttery smooth, I love it. -Very bright -Extremely easy to attach to stand, and the stand it very stable. -Multiple inputs so I can have my pc hooked up via DP and consoles via HDMI. Cons: -I had a really hard time getting the color/brightness/contrast settings to my liking. All of the preset options are too bright for my tastes, and it seems no matter what I do I can't get it quite to what I'm used to with the other monitors I've had over the years. Darks either look too dark or rather washed out. Though tbh as a plasma tv enthusiast I am a bit of a snob in this department. Conclusion: Unless you're reeeeeaaaaally picky about your color gamut and contrast, this monitor is a fantastic buy for its price point.

I have this monitor and one similar just 3d. They both are very the same other than the 3d so if you aren't going to watch movies or 3d render get this one since its so much cheaper for the same quality.

I bought this monitor because my previous one broke down after a good 9 years of service. I stated searching for a new monitor with 144Hz to prepare for the next-gen consoles, which apparently will support higher refresh rates than 60fps. This one caught my attention as it has everything I needed, and it is ASUS (my old monitor was also ASUS so I trusted the product). I was excited to test the higher fps on my computer, but lo and behold, the 144Hz is ONLY SUPPORTED through the DisplayPort. The HDMI port this monitor has is an old version that does not support anything over 60Hz. Is this stated officially in ANY PART of the listing here in Amazon? No. Now I'm stuck with a monitor that I cannot use more than half the advertised refresh rate. The monitor is okay. Looks good and has pretty good picture quality, but I'm still upset about the misleading information here.

The product is beautiful. Amazing swivel at base and easy to move up/down. I love how the screen rotates. However, I just built a PC and when I hooked the monitor up, I noticed a single dead pixel on the left side of the screen. I contacted customer support and they pretty much told me that the product was not "broken enough" for them to do anything. In my opinion, this is NOT how this should work. I order a product new, it is obviously faulty, you should replace it. Also, there are a few scratches in the plastic of the base but nothing affecting performance.
