  • Great product, great service, one happy customer
Style: ROG Ally X - 24GB RAM | 1TB SSD
Fast sipping, all was packaged well and everything was in tact. I did have to reach out to them for additional assistance past the return window and from that experience, these are people you want to do business with. They were fast, attentive, and human too. Could not be happier with my product and the people who made that product arrive straight to my hands. 11 outta 10 service truly. ... show more

  • Love it
Style: ROG Ally X - 24GB RAM | 1TB SSD
Works really well, have been playing baldurs gate and Skyrim and fallout. It does run hot and the battery dies after a few hours but it’s great.

  • TOP OF THE LINE
Style: ROG Ally X - 24GB RAM | 1TB SSD
So far it's amazing, I have it on a dock hooked up to my TV, key and mouse - and it's better than most my friends' PCs that they built! Ultra light, such a tiny (but perfectly large used as handheld) package for such a beautiful machine. Worth every cent

  • It remains one of the best handheld PCs
Style: ROG Ally X - 24GB RAM | 1TB SSD
I really love the ROG Ally X. I bought it after having the Steam Deck OLED for a while, and the truth is, they're both pretty amazing. I bought the Ally X somewhere else, but I thought I'd leave some of my thoughts here to hopefully help people. The Ally X still wows me to this day. The performance over the Steam Deck OLED is noticeable and significant. You can basically play any big triple-A game on this thing. The Steam Deck plays most games, but there are some that simply don't run well and therefore don't give you a satisfactory experience. The variable refresh rate display really helps out too, because you aren't forced to lock at a frame rate your handheld can consistently maintain. You can get all of the performance your handheld is capable of. The specs are quite good and still compete pretty well with most PC handhelds released more recently. The screen is a 1080p IPS and it looks surprisingly good for that display type. The colors aren't as saturated as those on the Steam Deck OLED, but they're still quite good and unless you have them side by side most people will be satisfied by the colors, contrast, motion, etc of the Ally X's screen. I installed Bazzite on it and set up dual boot, so it gives me the best of both worlds. I like Steam OS/Bazzite much better overall, though. It's more streamlined for gaming and has lots of really cool gaming-related features. Battery life is great. It seems fairly similar to the Steam Deck OLED in that regard. At least, I haven't noticed any major difference just using them day to day. I think the Steam Deck has better ergonomics and controls, but the ROG Ally X isn't too far behind. It feels great to play on. Truthfully, it's still incredible to me that you can play all your PC games with very respectable graphics quality on a handheld gaming PC. The technology is amazing. And the ROG Ally X remains one of the best examples of it. ... show more

  • My Review of the 2024 ASUS ROG Ally X
Style: ROG Ally X - 24GB RAM | 1TB SSD
The ROG Ally X feels like ASUS’s real first attempt at getting a Windows handheld right. It keeps the same core idea as the original Ally but fixes most of what held that model back — comfort, battery, and overall refinement. Design & Build The new chassis feels more premium and ergonomic, with reworked grips and better button placement. It’s a bit heavier, but the weight is justified by the larger battery and sturdier construction. The controls feel excellent, and the D-pad is finally reliable for precision input. Performance With the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD, this thing runs like a small gaming laptop. AAA games run smoother, frame pacing is better, and multitasking is effortless. The 7-inch 1080p 120 Hz screen looks great and makes fast-paced games feel fluid. Docked, it can easily double as a compact desktop PC. Battery Life ASUS fixed one of the biggest flaws of the original Ally with a much larger battery. In real use, I get several hours on lower power modes and roughly 1–3 hours in demanding games. It’s still not “long-haul” portable, but it’s a big improvement. Software & Usability Running Windows 11 gives you full freedom — Steam, Game Pass, Epic, emulators — everything works. The trade-off is that Windows still isn’t optimized for handhelds, so there are occasional UI headaches and updates that interrupt play. If you like tinkering, it’s perfect; if you want plug-and-play, expect minor friction. Final Thoughts The Ally X is more refined, faster, and more capable than its predecessor. It’s still pricey and Windows quirks remain, but this model finally delivers a true “PC-in-your-hands” experience. If you want maximum performance, full library access, and improved ergonomics, the Ally X is currently the most compelling Windows handheld available. Pros: Excellent performance, comfortable design, much larger battery, full Windows flexibility. Cons: Battery still limited at high power, Windows UI quirks, premium price. ... show more
