Description

The 10th anniversary of the GT-1000 running shoe takes a big step forward in what this model stands for. Designed for the runner with an active lifestyle, they're seeking a lightweight everyday trainer with excellent cushioning. The upper has been reimagined with a new engineered mesh that adjusts to your foot's natural shape while providing a comfortable midfoot hold. With the addition of an integrated support system, this application improves the heel fit and creates a more secure feel. Following a more sustainable design approach, this shoe also uses fewer resources to color the sockliner. Featuring a layer of GEL technology cushioning in the heel to improve shock absorption, the shoe also integrates a FLYTEFOAM midsole material that offers a softer and more supportive feeling at footstrike. Lastly, the DUOMAX support system consists of a firmer density of foam placed on the medial side of the midsole to help reduce the foot's pronounced inward roll (overpronation) while improving stability.

I got these two ASICS under the try before you buy option through Amazon. I have been buying this brand for years as a preferred running shoe. I did some research on these as I was needing a new pair as I have begun running again. Both are good for overpronation. I also always buy a size up from my normal size for feet expansion/swelling during long runs. I normally wear a 5 but order a 6 for both. I am also a normal width. GT-1000 provide cusion for entire foot. Heel cushion forms the heel but not annoying. The box toe area was neither overly wide or narrow. My small toe can hit the side but not squished. Also I can reached material with big toe by raising it. Again all this to check for room for foot expansion. Price is reasonable. Gel-Kayano 28 provided cushion for entire foot. Box toe very wide. My small toe could not touch side, nor could my big toe hit top of easy. This is great for expansion. Heel wasn't as snug. Pronation on shoe was excellent. Price is a bit on the expensive side. I am sending the Kayano back, why? No, it is not the price as you should not put a price on your feet especially if you are a long distance runner. The reason was the cushion. The insert of the GT-1000 had more support in the arch than in the Kayano. As a heavy plotter this was an important option for me. Also I have bad knees (I am 50yrs old and will stop running the day I stop getting up), so i need both support and cushion. All this being said, I haven't done a long run yet just a walk/short jog around the house. I will provide an update only if my opinion changes. ... show more

I had to add arch support inserts into these, which I usually don't need to do with other Asics GT-1000. These felt nearly flat in the footbed. After adding the inserts, they're better and are comfortable to run in. Fit is true to size.

I am truly amazed. Wore these shoes right out of the box for a 12-hour retail shift and my feet never got tired. Not even sore spots that often happen with new shoes. Been wearing them for work ever since - 2 weeks in and they still feel great, even with 15,000 steps per day. This is my first pair of Asics and I'll definitely be shopping for more pairs. I was a little bit afraid to buy Asics because a few years back I ordered size 9 Wide and got size 9 like extra super Narrow. I had to give them away. But this time I'm very pleased with my size 9 Wide. They fit great because I have really wide feet. I'm thinking about buying a men's kinsei in size 8 Standard. this brand & style has been my go to sneaker for the past several years. With a wide foot and the high arch, there are only a few brands that I find comfortable and that have really good support for the gym, easy hiking paths and walking on hard surfaces. They seem to be breathable when worn with decent light or heavy wool socks. I have noticed a slight change in the laces & they have become a little more lightweight over the yrs I've been purchasing. The price point is more reasonable than other manufacturers sneakers that are similar for wider feet, high arches, and sole comfort. ... show more
