I order this new pair as a backup, here is my story: I'm a 62 years old lady, not crazy about running, but still enjoy the outdoors and little hiking. Last year my boyfriend bought me an ASICS Gel-Venture7 and soon it became my favor walking shoes, I wear it to wherever the long walk is needed. Had not use it for hiking until last month we went to Hawaii, hiked to the waterfall up and down the steep hills, I was surprised my feet didn't hurt at all. Not like before when I wore the other famous brand walking shoes which walking downhill hurts my toes. Couple days later, I took the charrange to hike up to the Pillbox in Kailua. That's first time I use the Gel-Venture on the dirt trail and it worked great on gripping the rocky & dirt road. Our younger friends were sliding, slipping in some difficult area but me and my 65 years old boyfriend both climbed to the top and back down without sliding because we both wear the Gel-Venture7. I now have 3 new prs of ASICS sneakers & I really like them. They’re very comfortable, they look really nice (great colors) & the prices r reasonable. One thing I want to say about all brands of sneakers. My old pr of ASICS r a 7 1/2 & still fit fine. But now I get the same fit with an 8 & I find that to b true with all brands. I c this all the time in peoples comments, to size up 1/2 to a whole size. I don’t think all of our feet r getting bigger! When I order sneakers I’ve been ordering both sizes & every time I’ve kept the 8. So now I’ll just always order the 8. Iv never wore this brand before now but heard great things. I do 22k steps every day at work on concrete and needed a shoe that would provide support and help with foot and back pain. These shoes did a great job giving me the support I needed. I had them for about 3 months when I noticed they were no longer providing the same great support. I’m not sure how long the life of a shoe is or should be based on how much I walk, but I’m not disappointed with the amount of time I used them and how much I paid. I've gone through several pairs of shoes to walk more comfortably after surgery for morton's neuroma (pain in ball of foot). I did order the wide as I now wear orthotics. This is the third pair of Asics I've gotten for my daughter. She needs a wide width so that’s always a challenge but they showed up here on Amazon for quite a reasonable price. Three pairs later and they've all been great. We switched the style this time so I was a little worried but no need, she loves them. ASICS running shoes are my go to athletic shoes. When I need new tennis shoes I order them all the time. Best fit, comfort and look for exercise and every day use. Have been wearing ASICS for years and that will never change. Can’t go wrong with ASICS and they are true to size. Long lasting too. I walk miles on the daily and they hold up well. I purchased 2 pairs of these for our daughters (both have different feet issues) one has bunions and other one has knew and feet problems.     • Ripping after not much use.

I usually buy Asics brand because they fit best for my feet and offer great support. These shoes fit as expected, so that's not the issue. I have never had any pair of Asics prematurely wear out, matter of fact, I always retire my Asics to lawn work shoes because even though I need new ones with better support, the shoes are still in great shape for mowing the lawn and such. Well, I have one pair that are strictly running shoes and one pair for strictly walking. I used these for just walking. About 4 months in, I notice a a rip starting at the seam near the top (toe area). It has gotten worse over time and there isn't really a way to just sew it back together. That's why I'm giving 4 stars, because it hasn't been a year that I have had these shoes and I can no longer use them. I can usually get by with my shoes lasting at least 2 yrs before I need fresh ones due to normal wear in the soles, but nothing externally has ever done this. ... show more
