I’ve wanting to try the Novablast since version 3. I am glad to finally pulled the trigger. So far I have put on a little over 20 miles on this pair. First, these shoes seems true to size compared with most of my shoe rotation. The heel collar is nicely padded and the tongue is minimal but doesn’t create pressure on the top of the foot. The toe box is roomy with the upper material having some flexibility and fairly breathable. I am a little confused where to use this in my shoe rotation. I have a long run shoe (Saucony Triumph) and shoes for fast workouts (Saucony Speed 2). The Novablast 5 can take the place of both shoes but probably doesn’t give you quite the speed as the Speed 2. It definitely feels well cushioned and quite bouncy. The midsole has the tallest stack height I own measuring 41.5 mm. I think this can be a great all around shoes if you’re only looking for 1 pair of running shoes. I would definitely bring this on a trip because it would be great for walking and also doing a few moderately paced runs. I’m planning to use Novablast for tempo day workouts and maybe some longer runs just to protect the legs from getting too beaten up. I also own 2 pairs of carbon shoes (Nike Vaporfly and Saucony Pro) that I only use for running events. I think the Novablast 5 will suit a lot of runners due to the stability and being fairly lightweight. This shoes is also a great deal too in my opinion. A max cushion shoes usually runs in the $160 range and uptempo shoes will set you back about $170. Overall I’m happy with this purchase and think most people will be too! ... show more

I am writing this review with the intended audience being those runners who have never purchased an Asics running shoe before. By way of quick backrgound, I started off wearing New Balance and Saucony for my running shoes. After trying on a pair of Novablast 5's for the first time, I now have four pairs of Novablast, 2 pairs of Mega Blast and a pair of Meta Speed Edgy Tokyo's for racing. Specifically, the Novablast is perhaps Asics most versatile shoe, it's super supportive but has a stable feel. It's not featherweight but light enough to give you a decent pop for higher paced efforts. It's best use, however would be for any long runs, or recovery runs. This shoe is tailor made for these efforts. If you are on a budget, this shoe would do you fine on race day if you are budgeting for just one shoe in your rotation. Also, the price point makes this shoe very affordable. And now, with the Novablast 6 now out, you can get this shoe at a discount while supplies last. I pull this shoe out the closet moreso than any of the others. It's just a nice ride that will get it done for you. You won't regret your purchase decision. ... show more

I’ve been wearing the ASICS Novablast 5 for my runs, and I’m honestly so impressed. They’re incredibly lightweight, super comfortable, and the cushioning feels amazing with every step. They provide great support and make both short and long runs feel much easier on my feet. I also love the modern design—they look just as good with workout outfits as they do for everyday wear. If you’re looking for running shoes that combine comfort, performance, and style, I definitely recommend giving the Novablast 5 a try. They’ve quickly become one of my favorite pairs! ... show more

Size: 9 Color: Vital Green/Black
I've been a 57 year old male limited to 16-17 miles per week with my Cliftons. Any more miles than that, I'd get some sort of minor injury and have to rest a week or two. I love the Cliftons and they are comfortable and they worked for my training to get my 5K times to 21-22 minutes. So after 5-6 years of this back and forth, I needed a change to a more "plush" ride. I've tried various max cushion shoes and they all didn't offer the support I enjoyed with the Cliftons, until now! The Novablast are not only plush on the pavement, they give me the neutral support I need. With JUST 3 weeks of use, I've bumped my mileage to 24-25!! WITH ZERO PAIN or injuries. I've done two 9 mile runs (slow, easy long runs) with zero pain/issues. I've done fast finish (threshold) runs with zero issues. And today? 6 800 meter 6:15/m intervals with zero issue. Yeah, these chug along at that pace, but they work. I tried the Mach 6 for two interval sessions and yeah, they're light and more nimble, but my ankles and Achilles do not like 'em (I returned them). I won't race in these (I'll stick to my Endorphin Pros), but I'm tickled that I can actually do intervals in these and enjoy them!! ... show more

These shoes are beautiful and quality. The vibrant blue color is great and stand out. They take a little getting used to if you're not used to these tall running shoes, but after you get used to it, they're wonderful. They feature a good fit, with the wide variety perfectly fitting my massively wide foot. The mesh upper is very breathable and light. It sort of feels like walking on a bouncy pillow (in a good way). I also notice that my walking time is a little better, so perhaps it does add a bit of spring to your step. They are pricey but super comfortable and look like they will hold up. ... show more

I’ve been using the Novablast 5 for a while now, and overall it’s a solid daily running shoe. The cushioning is soft and comfortable, especially for easy runs and longer distances. It has a smooth ride, and the shoe feels lighter than expected for how much cushioning it offers. The upper is breathable and fits well, with enough room in the toe box to stay comfortable during longer runs. It works well for everyday training and even some moderate pace runs, which makes it pretty versatile. That said, it’s not the most responsive shoe out there. When picking up the pace, it feels a bit less energetic compared to more performance-focused options. The grip is also just okay, especially on wet surfaces. ... show more

I came from exclusively running in Hokas the last few years. These definitely offer more cushion than what I got from my Hokas, and when running down hills my knee is much less irritated. The first run I had in these I spent the entire run considered buying a second pair. I do think faster runners may find these on the heavier side and impact some speed, but for me, (26min 5K / 57min 10K) it strikes a good balance.
