The GEL-VENTURE 8 running shoe is designed for the great outdoors. This versatile shoe is excellent for trail runs, light hiking or exploring a new city. This model has been updated with a more accommodating forefoot fit, while reducing the amount of overlays around the forefoot without sacrificing durability. Lastly, the outsole is more durable with a traction pattern that's been improved with re-engineered lugs under the heel. All of these updates make the new GEL-VENTURE 8 shoe a recommended companion for your next adventure.

I'm on my 4th pair now, the others haven't worn out, they're just great shoes and wanted extras. They are great for just casual walking around shoes, but I wouldn't buy them for running on anything but trails. They are far too heavy to be road runners. Of course, they ARE trail runners with the heavy tread, etc, so that makes perfect sense, right? The tread on them is great for hiking and I have ditched my hiking boots almost completely. If you are the type of person that has trouble finding shoes that are wide enough, then try these! After suffering through tight shoes, or shoes you hope will be better when you break them in, you will literally jump for joy in these shoes because you will have found your solution. I've used Asics for over 10 years and they continue to satisfy me with their footwear. I'm a happy customer of Asics and only wear Asics. I use them for every day, working out, and playing volleyball. They are comfortable, fit incredibly well, and are very light with great traction which is good for athletic movement. I've never had a negative concern of any of their products let alone this shoe/version which is my 4th one of these over the past 6 years. I'm very athletic so I put the shoes through a lot and they endure very well where as other shoe brands I've tried in the past did not work ideally for my style of play wearing them down quickly and failing to give the support I needed.     • Terrible decision to attach cheap-assed laces

The shoes pretty much fit as expected and feel good. I'm happy with that. I have been buying and wearing nothing but Asics for my morning jaunts (5 miles per day) for the last 10 years, BUT, I'm guessing to cut cost, these shoes have been fitted with even thinner than normal laces. When I pull to tighten the laces when putting on the shoes, this is the first time in my life I fear they will break if I pull too hard. NOT A GOOD DECISION ASICS MANAGEMENT! I will not buy another pair of ASICS online (if at all) unless I can check out the laces first. If they are all like this, I'll find something else. ... show more

Just got these and they feel great. We careful is you have a wide foot. These tend to be on the narrow side. Lucky for me I do have a slightly narrow foot and they fit like a glove.     • Light, sturdy shoe goes everywhere

I have warn these for two months traveling around the West. They have been great. They were replacements for a more conventional shoe from same mfg and at first I thought this was too much. But on city streets in Tucson to ice cold hiking in New Mexico, they offered a great combo of support and comfort. In sloppy conditions I would wear boots but these were my everyday footwear for two months. Good to go. (The laces seem lightweight and may not go the distance but….) ... show more

I do like these shoe’s and I would buy again, but if I had to choose between the gel 7 or 8 I think I prefer the 7! The 7 just feels like it offers more support and comfort then the 8
