I bought these as a general use, everyday shoe. They are comfy, but not quite as "walking on a cloud" comfy as my Asics Gel Nimbus 23s... But those shoes are 3X the price. So far I have walked 40-50 miles in them, and other than a bit of first-day soreness while breaking them in, they have been great. Since these are "trail running" shoes, they have a chunkier, grippier tread than typical road-running shoes or cross-trainers. This makes them a good choice for hiking and, hopefully, winter/snow walking/running. I've done two hikes in then so far, including Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, and they had great traction and gave me good confidence walking on rock, sand, gravel, etc. I've also done a few miles of road-running in them, and they worked fine. They are true to size. I normally wear 10.5, so that's what I bought. Conventional wisdom is to size up by a half size for dedicated running shoes, which I did for my Asics Gel Nimbus 23s, and that worked out great for those shoes. But for these Gel Venture 8s, my normal size fits great and my toes are not cramped at all under normal use. They did get a little jammed into the front on the long, steep, descent from the top of Angel's Landing, but I think any shoe or boot would have been similar. Even when I went road-running in them, they did not feel cramped in the toe. So, order your normal size.

So for starters this is not quite what I expected from the venture line, it’s a lot lighter in the sole and material. That said it is a lot cheaper and I suspect they have a more expensive shoe that now fills that role. my last pair of running/workout shoes was the venture 5. I immediately fell in love not only because I found my rareish size, 12.5, but because of the overall quality and feel of the shoe. The were more expensive than these venture 8s but they were more sturdy, the soles had more bounce and they were much more suited for the trails. I used them for 2 years even wearing them to work on occasion. Usually more expensive gym shoes last less than a year and I trash work boots at my factory job in 6 months. The venture 5s were without exaggeration the best shoe I ever had… These venture 8s as previously mentioned are lighter weight which is ostensibly better, as the 5s weren’t the lightest shoe, but the new shoe lacks in support, grip, and bounce. I like these shoes still they’re very comfortable and good for road running and gym training, but I might have to get something a little more sturdy like the trail excite or something.. so I gave them 4 stars because they didn’t meet my expectations but they’re good shoes still and if I could have gave them a 4.5 I probably would have

I have been walking with these daily for about 2 weeks now and I've found them pretty decent. The support isn't the best that I've had but the fit and comfort are very good for the price. The shape of the shoe might run a bit tight when trying it on at first but just need to adjust and it actually has very good fit. The contact support is pretty good but not the best. So far no real wear as it's coming into autumn here but it looks like it will last well. The bottom of the shoe has a pretty good design for running so that's another plus.

Is this what new shoes feel like now?? I wore a pair I liked so much for 10 years, still going, and I guess I didn't realize that maybe over time the comfort level gradually faded and I didn't notice; these actually cushion my feet across the whole bottom and my feet stopped hurting as soon as I put them on! I have narrow feet and someone told me to try this brand which I never wore before. I have a spring in my step and much better balance; i carried 3 large packages up a curb at UPS. That's something I couldn't have done yesterday. (I have neuropathy and poor balance and my feet are numb with weak leg muscles.) I'm so much more capable now. Before I avoided standing up. Plus I got a great deal and I like the color. Asics is my new goto brand.

I had a pair of gel 7s that I used for the gym, jogging, and leisurely activities. I started wearing them to work and wore them out pretty quickly (6mos). I loved them so much I bought them a second time, this time they lasted closer to a year. Here we are today, the gel 7s are discontinued so I tried the 8s and they are like the saymnshoe, but offers a little more support. I have high arches and average 20-30k steps a day and the gel ventures have always been comfortable, durable, and visually appealing.

I got these to replace my old Asics Gel-Venture 6, and they are everything I had hoped for. The comfort is just what you would expect from Asics. They are lightweight (lighter than the 6) with excellent breathability. Support and fit are just like I what I fell in love with in the 6. Some details that seem to me to be upgrades from the 6: The outsole is a slightly harder, more plasticky material. This is ideal for me because my daily dog walks often take me off-road or make me drag my feet on the pavement. This material feels like it will be more sturdy than plain rubber. Also, the laces have a very different feel to them, again almost like plastic. But when I pull the laces tight, they stay in place and don't slip back like cotton or smooth nylon laces do. They also don't come untied until you untie them.

I was worried about the fit. I wear a Men's size 8.5, last time I bought New Balance I had to get a size 9. These Asics Gel-Venture 8 fit perfectly in my size 8.5, they are so light, I feel like I am shoeless. They are comfortable, walking is smooth and just an overall great walking shoe, for me.

IMO I prefer Asics. Some people prefer Goodyear over Firestone tires. They have their reasons but can notexactly describe them. That's how I am with Asics. They fit, look okay and give me miles of support and comfort. I have several pairs for various purposes. Cheap and expensive (as shoes go) and cannot think of anything negative to express. For me, they're my first choice. But you may prefer Firestone instead.
