I have been a regular runner/jogger for many years. I have tried many types of shoes normally leaning the design toward stability. As I grow older, I have been trying to strike a balance between lessening the impact of the concrete on my aging bones as well as keeping good stability for similar reasons. In the past I have experienced hamstring and calf issues from shoes with too much cushion so I was extremely happy with the way this model of Asics give me the best of both worlds (stability and cushion). I feel so strongly about this I purchased another pair from Amazon in less than a month after starting to use my new pair of Asics Gel-Excite 9's. Highly recommend for anyone but especially those 50+. Great price was just another plus!

I'm on my feet all day and have developed a foot issue from older shoes. These Asics were above my expectations. Not only are they comfortable, but my foot issue has disappeared.

This shoe is comfortable, light, fits exactly as I expected in my size and I'd buy another pair in an instant. My only disappointment is one I have with most sneakers: the backs are so flexible it's more difficult than I prefer to put the shoes on. I understand the comfortable and supportive fit requires a flexible back, but I've worn other sneakers that are easier to put on and still comfortable and supportive. Other than that highly recommended!

Based on its price and good looks the "ASICS Men's Gel-Excite 9 Running Shoe" is a good value. It is a shoe for casual use and not a running shoe or appropriate for long walks (5 miles) on a regular basis. Light weight.
