As a runner who averages about 3 miles per day, these are a great value for a comfortable, neutral, and durable runner. It doesn't excel at anything in particular other than value, although personally I like how they run a little wide. I purchased them as backups, but find myself choosing them as my daily jogger more and more often. That said, if you're looking for plush and cushy, this is not your shoe. It offers plenty of cushion while running, but doesn't compromise stability and light feel for a running/walking on clouds feel. The ASICS Men’s Gel-Contend Running Shoes are an excellent value and very comfortable right out of the box. I have had feet issues and swear by these! The color looks great in person and matches the photos online—clean, modern, and easy to pair with workout or casual clothes. Comfort was important for daily wear. These are the only shoes I wear now. I have one great pair, one good pair and two that are pre-loved and help me mow the lawn. They stay comfortable all day & the news ones do not need a break-in period. Critical for me is excellent cushioning and arch support, especially for heel impact. I need confidence in my shoes. Have purchase several versions of these shoes over the years, mainly as dedicated walking shoe. Not a daily driver, so to speak. With each generation the materials used seem to have declined in durability. Initially the soles would wear out before the uppers but with last 3 rounds of these shoes the uppers are coming apart or wearing through. They are comfortable, fit perfectly but just don't last.
