One of the great philosophical questions of our time, in addition to “Is a hot dog a sandwich” (no, it’s a hot dog) and “Is the dress gold or blue?” (it’s gold, what’s wrong with you) is “Of the five senses, which would you give up?” I’m not wild about sacrificing any of my senses, but if asked which one I’d never give up – the sense of smell. The world is way too diverse and wonderful to lose that. Never smell fresh-baked bread again? Or a blooming honeysuckle bush? Or, the assorted scents of spring: gardenias, roses, fresh-cut grass. These are spring-scented wax tarts; perfect for use in a tart warmer for a concentrated burst of freshness after a long winter or placed (unwrapped) in an underwear drawer, for just a hint of spring. And when the cute co-worker in the elevator sniffs appreciatively, you’ll know it’s because of you that the space smells like a stormy ocean and not an egg sandwich on an everything bagel. With Frank’s Hot Sauce. If you don’t already have a tart warmer, a suggestion, perhaps a pro tip: Use one with a lightbulb as the warmer, not a votive candle. There’s way too many ways that can go sideways with really disastrous results. And, as delightful as it is, freshening the air with Sweet Bamboo just isn’t worth an inferno that takes out the block. It’s one of those little luxuries that you need after two months of holiday excess. The scent takes you to warm(ish) spring days, of fresh-cut grass, of flowering trees, of roses on old-growth vines, climbing fences. Yes, it’s all very stylized and idealistic, but, you’re allowed when the feels-like temperature outside is -3. Break off a chunk, place it in the appropriate warming vessel and let visions of spring and warm weather wash over you. For fun, combine the fragrances. Try a bit of the rose and the gardenia. Or the fresh-cut grass and bamboo. This isn’t for covering odors. There are tarts specifically for that purpose. These tarts add to the overall environment; it doesn’t subtract nasty smells from it. These are subtle, a nice background scent. There’s no long-term commitment here; when you (I) get bored, it’s easy to swap them out. And, they last a really long time (which is why I recommend breaking off just a bit from any given tart – see “get bored easily” above). It’s an eight-pack of tarts (12 blocks to a tart) for $16.99. If spring doesn’t appeal to you or the thought of fresh-cut grass makes you sneeze, try the winter scents. In addition to washing windows, putting away winter clothes, heavy blankets and flannel sheets, these tarts can be a part of your spring cleaning routine. Or, use them when it’s snowed 11 days in a row and you really Really REALLY need a sign of spring.

What a great deal and absolutely fantastic scented wax melts. This company knows what they are doing with wax scents. I recycle and reuse residual and leftover wax from candles I burn. I plan on using these to add to the recycled wax to provide scent. Bamboo: The cold throw is a fresh woodsy (not pine) scent. After Rain: Wow! In captures that after rain fresh grass scent. Cherry Blossom: The cold throw is a very sweet typical scent you find in several things that are labeled cherry blossom to include candles and lotions. Ocean Breeze: The cold throw is a nice soft and fresh floral scent. It reminds me of the New Day scent from Bath & Body Works. Sandalwood Rose: The cold throw is true to it's name! Perfect blend of sandalwood and rose. Gardenia: The cold throw is citrusy gardenia scent. Very nice. Sweet Pea: The cold throw is a classic sweet pea scent. Fresh Cut Grass: The cold throw is not quiet fresh cut grass, but close. It is a sweet scent.
