No buyer’s remorse, no regrets! Love This Synth! Huge EDM, Pop & RnB presets! Highly recommend!
Size: 37 Keys
AMAZING SYNTH at a Great Price! With around 1,800+ presets to choose from and EDM, RnB, DubStep & Pop presets you can buy for around $10-20, this is an easy choice to buy. I love the white with wood-look trim on the sides. The keys feel solid too. Super fun sounds! Perfect for live shows using custom saved live sets. No buyer’s remorse here. Get it! ... show more

Good, but serves a specific niche
Size: 88 Keys
This keyboard is not for everyone, but it's good for me and it does many things right. The acoustic piano presets sound good, especially with quality open-back headphones. They're mostly synthesized piano sounds though, but there are pre-recorded samples if you know where to look... I am not too picky about it, if you are make sure you like the default sounds or know how to find the sampled pianos in the huge list of presets. Has a huge number of varied good quality presets. Synth sounds are the highlight. Maybe the electric pianos are a bit lacking. If you have (or get) the V Collection software you should be able to program more presets, pretty much whatever you like. The UI is not overwhelming, won't confuse the family members. But may not be enough for a pro in a live setting. It looks cool. Won't be an eyesore for the family. The keybed is pretty decent, I don't really have any desire for anything better. No polyphonic aftertouch is a missed opportunity. Has USB MIDI host, can add another controller and play with your family. But, no MPE support even if the external controller has it, a missed opportunity. Hope they add it in the future updates. The price isn't high compared to other "stage" keyboards, but if you like to always have the computer on you can get all the same stuff cheaper by just plugging an Arturia MIDI keyboard into a laptop with V Collection. The gimmicky screen knob is a hit and miss, I'd prefer something more traditional and precise. But looks nice. Overall: good home keyboard the entire family can approach and just play and have fun. Especially if some family members are synth enthusiasts. Not really needed in studio settings where you always have your computer on, anyway. Questionable value as an actual stage keyboard you'd use on stage, due to the limited controls, the screen knob, slow loading sample presets, and the weight. Probably not for the aspiring classical concert pianists super picky about the action and the super faithful concert piano sound. ... show more

Sample library is stunning. Beautiful, Creative, Inspirational! The instrument build is solid
Size: 37 Keys
I started home studio recording as a young man in 1983. All I had was a guitar and bass, a Korg DDM-110 digital drum machine, a Casio CZ-101 short synth, and a Fostex X-15 cassette tape 4 track recorder. All these years later Im getting back into creating music. I just spent an hour familiarizing myself with this Arturio Astrolab 37 and all I can say is SPLENDID. What a great intrument with a vast and rich library of sounds. Immediate creative inspiration. I will be exploring this gorgious sounding beauty for many months to come. Extrememly satisfied! And the keys feel responsive, they feel great! ... show more

The compact Astrolab (update)

At first I was hyped about the device. Now that the novelty has worn off, I see the device for what it is, analog labs in a keyboard. If you’re looking for gear that is completely standalone and you aren’t tethered to a computer, this isn’t for you. If you want to change, add, or create custom presets, it all has to be done in analog labs, then transferred to the unit from the computer. For the price, there much more capable devices with sound design options on board, full sized keys, and no need to constantly connect to a computer. It has pretty limited function as a midi controller as well if connecting to an MPC. It works, it’s looks stunning, and it does have great connectivity options and presets, but you’ll hit a wall soon if you want more than a device that holds your favorite analog presets. Thinking of selling mine. ... show more

Best synth by far in this category!
Size: 37 Keys
I have owned many many synths/keyboards and usually these smaller types with the mini keys are a disappointment. But, this velocity-sensitive with after touch keybed is the best by far that I've come across in this category. The presets are fantastic and controls are perfect for who this is designed for - musicians who are generally happy with presets without a lot of editing. The display is very nice and is very friendly with all the right info right in front of you where we like it. It's a visually attractive keyboard with very nice wood-like end panels and it's very well-made. The ability to make deeper edits is available via usb/computer link-up and works beautifully with your Arturia licenced instruments. I wanted to give this 5 stars but took one off because several sounds have less than reasonable polyphony for practical use which was a surprising disappointment. I almost returned mine because of that, but decided that the good outweighs the bad with this keyboard. Not only that but Artiria's tech support is top-notch...REALLY! This is expandable meaning you can add more sounds so I highly recommend this over other compact synths. ... show more
