I've been doing digital art as a hobby for about 10 years or so and recently decided to put up the stylus for a while and do art with physical mediums. Some of said mediums are watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints. Watercolor sheets are very easy to obtain, but in the little shopping I've done for acrylic and oil paint supplies, most of the products are canvas (understandably so!). As I do this for a hobby and am untrained in any form of art, I would rather not spend a lot on canvases that I'm likely not going to keep around since my art isn't professional and I'm new to physically painting with a brush and not digitally with a stylus and thus making a lot of mistakes. These canvas pads are just what I need!! Oil and acrylic paints work wonderfully with them, and I feel in the short time I've been using the sheets from these pads that my skill has improved a bit, since I'm a lot more willing to do "study" art pieces strictly for practice. I've also been a lot more willing to experiment with color and even different paint types. For example, I have some glow-in-the-dark acrylic paints that behave differently than standard acrylics, and having a couple of the sheets from these pads freed me to experiment as I wished with the paints, knowing I wasn't using up canvases. Honestly, everyone that paints with oil or acrylics can use these. Newbies like myself can spend more time practicing not worrying about using up pricey canvases, and experts and professionals can use these pads and their sheets to do study art pieces or experiment with styles that they aren't familiar with to further hone their skill sets. So long as I keep painting with acrylics and oils, I'll keep getting these as I need them!

Arteza makes fantastic products but I do prefer the Fredrix canvas pads. The Arteza pads seem to detach from the backing fairly quickly. The way I set up my easel with the pads, I need the back to stay on. The surface of the pads is quite smooth compared to the Fredrix, but I always do another coat of tinted gesso either way, so it's not a big factor for me.
