I have three of these in my house, and I sleep better, my belongings are in a more protected environment, and you would not be able to tell I have four little boxes in my house (that I clean daily). I also run a high quality intake filter in my main HVAC system and a dehumidifier running around the clock. Those two things make these units more efficient and less prone for needing a deep clean. If the Yellow or Red light is not shutting off under clean air conditions: Should you need to do a deep cleaning of the internal sensor, you can access it with a small phillips screwdriver through one of the many holes on the units main intake. You will see a triangular shaped panel with a clear plastic window (that resembles Lego). Take that panel off and the two screws that hold the sensor to the top of the intake fan. Pull the sensor out as far as it will go and take an old toothbrush dipped in 95% rubbing alcohol. Do this very throughly (with the unit unplugged, of course), and also se sure to vacuum out the chamber that holds the sensor. Let that sit for 10 minutes, put it all back together, and you're good to go! I did this two days ago and it is running like new. Be sure to not put the alcohol on the clear window that protect the sensor. I did that to mine, and it made it cloudier that it was before I cleaned it. I ended up just taking that window out, because it had yellowed and was now cloudy, which kept throwing the sensor off back to yellow. I wonder if it is possible to obtain more of those clear sensor covers? Anyway, my unit is running blue and clean without that clear piece now. My recommendation would be to clean this sensor every time you change the filter, run a dehumidifier alongside an arsenal of these purifiers, and don't smoke inside, and my guess is that clear window for the sensor may not even be needed. ... show more

What is a "pre-filter" for? It is a mesh screen designed to filter out larger particles, such as hair, debris, etc before the air reaches the HEPA filter for further purification. So, that is the side they are saying to vacuum every 2-4 weeks. Right? Says so in the instructions. However, if you put the filter back in the way their instructions say to, which is the carbon (black) side facing outside (intake) and the "pre-filter" facing inside (output), then you would be vacuuming the carbon side instead. The carbon side's only function is to remove odors. Thats it. Vacuuming the "pre-filter" every 2-4 weeks, like their instructions say to do, would be pretty pointless since the carbon side would've done the job. Every one of their other models, especially the cylindrical versions (which I own), have the "pre-filter" facing outside and the carbon side facing inside. That's how it works. So why do the instructions say to do the complete opposite for this model? Someone got their wires crossed. Then there's the issue with the instructions for the controls. This model has the UV light function. The instructions, however, say that button is for "Display off / Filter Reset." Obviously there needs to be some corrections made to their instructions. ... show more

We have a large master bedroom with adjacent rooms and wanted a decent air purifier for this area. It must be powerful enough for large area and have Hepa type filter. After finding this one here on Amazon.com and was impressed with reviews so we bought it. It really works great we've had it almost a month. Easy easy filter installation or replacement. Buy real name brand filters they are better and different than knock off ones. Replacement filters seem affordable. So, it's on auto and the light is green and it's so low and quiet. We light cigarettes. Less than a minute the light turns yellow then red and the fan speeds up not loud almost pleasant and smooth. In sleep mode we can't hear it wondered if it was even on. Yup, really low. It kicks out air at the top in a fan shape flow providing good circulation. Has the uv light feature. Overall it does a fine job and we are very happy with our purchase. This has done a phenomenal job of helping with my mild allergies and minimizing the amount of dust in my room. It also came in handy when I had family over and a few members decided to smoke cigars in the house. While I didn't expect it to be too helpful, it did sense the decline in air quality and out of all the affected rooms, mine was the only one not full of smog and stink. So that alone should speak for its worth. It runs pretty quietly and so far there are no odd noises. It's quiet enough that I just put it on auto at night, as that still keeps it running. If you like white noise, it's perfect for that. I will update if anything changes, but I've been pretty happy with it thus far. This product delivers! I use it mainly on the sleep function 24/7. It keeps the dust down and the air clean. I first ran it on 1 for about 2 hours and then reduced it to the sleep mode. It is very quiet, I have this larger one in the great room and I have the smaller ones in the bedrooms. Even when sitting on a bedside table it is so quiet it doesn't bother your sleep. This beautiful machine kicks butt in our 400 sq ft family room when we do smoke inside. Buying another one for the main part of the house just because it does such a great job.
