  • Fits better than expected!!!
I was pretty worried about how this would fit as it was claimed to fit up to 46 inch chest & I have a 48 inch chest. I was pleasantly surprised when strapped at its loosest it fit me well! A word of warning this is metal with sharp edges be prepared to sand the sharp edges or wear something appropriate underneath like chainmail. I have chainmail & have been building my armor in layers. I am so happy it fits around my chest as the chainmail I got said fits up to 48 inches & it is tight but chainmail stretches, so you can imagine my concern when I read this fit up to 46 inches as plate metal is not very forgiving but I should be fully outfitted by the time Halloween comes around & will have my wife to help me suit up. It is always a good thing to have an extra pair of hands especially when taking everything off. I have done it alone & it takes time & patience. This armor is light & even with all three layers on you can still move surprisingly quick! The idea of a plodding cumbersome knight is a myth!!! You can move quickly with complete articulation of your limbs being able to kick swing a sword or shoot in for a single leg take down! The biggest issue you will have to deal with once everything is tightened to perfection is heat!!! Being as I had to piece meal my armor together I couldn't be happier in the way it fits, when you consider this stuff is mass produced & you don't have a local smithy sizing your armor for you, you have to be ready to do some creative alterations when necessary I have been incredibly lucky but I am a average sized man which I am sure helped finding armor that was only an adjustment away from fitting well. This armor may not fit tall men as well I am only 5 foot 7 inches tall with an athletic 195lb frame. I am by no means a body builder but I don't have a beer belly either with a 33 inch waist I can tighten the bottom straps. I give my proportions to help others decide how this will fit them as there are great variances in the human condition. Even men of the same height could vary greatly in build. The best I can offer is if your my size or smaller this will fit no problem. If you are bulkier or taller you might start having issues I fit in this armor maxing the shoulder & chest straps so if your bigger it won't fit. It fits perfect in length so if your tall it may be short on you. I wish you all good luck in building your armor, after Halloween I will have to try to talk my wife into going to Ren Fairs or wait for the zombie apocalypse to get further use out of my armor. With a medical mask & goggles under my helmet I will wade through the undead! LOL ... show more

  • Good looking, cheap armor
Overall good quality for the price. I noticed some slight curling of the front and back plates around the side and waist area that needed to bent outward for a comfortable fit, but this was easily done. Good quality for renaissance fairies, LARPing, and the like. I do not recommend for actual sword play. ... show more

  • Great item just fits way too large for 39" chest.
This is a really good breastplate and a great price. The only problem I have with it is that it fits very large on me. I have 39" chest. Obviously, someone with even a 20" chest COULD wear it, though it doesn't mean they would look good in it. My opinion is that for this to look good on you, you will probably have to have at least a 42" chest, and would probably fit well from 42" to about 50" and still fit ok with 52" chest. At 39" chest, wearing this item I look like a slender elf wearing barrel-chested dwarf armor... just a bit silly. But again, I think it is a good quality item and a good price. ... show more

  • Good for the asking price.
For the price the armor isn't bad. A few minor defects. Bought two. I bought them at separate times. I paid round $79 for the first one which was a little more ornate but had only 1 set of buckles on each side of breastplate. The other was around $80 and was less decorated and it looked exactly like the picture here on Amazon, but it came with 2 sets of buckles on each side of the breastplate. Despite a minor dent on one these look great and overall I'm happy with my purchases. ... show more

  • Crappy unless you're crafty
This breastplate seems to be very cheaply made. If you want something to wear as is and you're shorter than 6'2" I'd look elsewhere. I bought this for full contact LARP to keep my ribs from being all too easily bruised. After the first use, 3 of the side buckles fell apart, the metal pieces lost forever. However, if you are crafty, like myself, it actually makes a great base for something to heavily modify to fit. I think I paid around $85 for this after shipping, $16 for a band saw blade that would cut through the rolled edges, $4 for a paint marker to mark out the shape I needed, $8 for a can of 3M adhesive spray, $7 for a blue foam camping pad to cushion and $25 for leather to line the interior and cover the edges. What I have now is an extremely comfortable breastplate that looks like something I may have paid over $1000 for. ... show more

  • Don't jump in this unless you want a broken nose
Great quality at a good price. Even better if you're a silverback gorilla, as it's HUGE. The straps can definitely be improved, but for under $100 this armor is a steel (steel, get it? kill me) Perhaps I need additional armor/padding to go underneath it for a snugger fit?

  • Great piece of armor
This is great armor. I am 5'10" and 160 lb and this fits quite well...a bit big but with a padded gambeson, it will be perfect. It is thick but can be bend with some force to help fit. The shoulders are well protected, but make reaching across the chest a bit difficult. Leaning over is a bit tricky. Otherwise mobility is unhampered. I have not yet tested the armor with a sword or hammer yet, but it feels solid. Buy a gambeson or wear several thick sweatshirts because the armor digs into the shoulders. ... show more

  • Realistic Armor
This was used in a theater production. It is a great quality; made with heavy duty metal. The man wearing it has a larger 38inch waist, so we needed to extend the belt length on the sides. But the length from shoulder to waist was good.
