  • Best features:quality:price LPVO
Shopping for a new LPVO and a friend recommended I take a look at Arken. Glad I did! The EP-8 has everything I was looking for, and I looked at all of them. I wanted this build to reach out to 400(+), so I wanted more than the typical 6x LPVO but was beginning to think that would fall outside my budget. The Arken EP-8 has more than I hoped for with additional 2x power, larger tube, and a First Focal Plane reticle to boot! But is it any good? I can tell you the glass is exceedingly clear with very little distortion. Better than most. At 1x it's a fantastic, very fast, both eyes open, pointer. I rarely lean over to my red dot now. Even when tightened up to 8x, it's easy to get a full pipe and acquire target. Light off or on, the reticle is highly visible. At 6x-8x, the KLBOX (Known Length Bullet Drop Compensating) reticle is very intuitive and combines ranging, and BDC with holds in the same ladder. It's also dead on out to 400 with a 50/200 zero, throwing 62 grain 556 with a 0.30ish BC. I just don't imagine the need to target anything much past that. CONs? The flip up covers are loud. A few mods solved that. The zoom requires some effort to get it moving and until you're used to it, you might have to reacquire your target. Conversely, It won't bump off set easily either. PROs: It's an affordable, high quality 8x-28 FFP LVPO scope that's feature rich. Vortex, PA, Sig don't hit the same marks, and their Japanese glass and overseas manufacturing is no better until you double the money. Arken is designed in the USA, built in their own plant in China, and has a transferable, lifetime warranty. Buy it. Try it. You'll love it. ... show more

  • Quality is not lost because of affordability
Incredible optic for the money. The glass is incredibly clear and the adjust from one magnification to the other makes the reticle extremely versatile. The illumination has 2 night vision settings that are extremely useful with night vision optics, and even those settings are too low sometimes. while the highest illumination settings are extremely bright perfect for daytime direct sunlight shooting. I’ve used the optic on multiple hunts now. I am extremely confident on the functionality and the reliability for it to hold my zero. It also looks incredible and extremely easy to use for beginner shooters. I will be buying more optics from Arken. ... show more

  • A great mid-range scope at a great price!
First off, I want to say that I LOVE this scope. It is a great deal for the price and should fit needs for any hunters who aren't trying to snipe their game from half a mile away. It is built well, is easy to adjust and has a great reticle. It comes with bikini covers and flip-up hard covers for both lenses as well. Arken Optics also has AMAZING customer service who are quick to reply and please their customers. My original flip-up eyepiece cover had a little difficulty staying on when traversing the woods, but after messaging Arken, the company mailed me a new pack of BOTH flip-up covers free of charge and the new one works absolutely perfectly! I would highly recommend this scope to any person looking for a quality scope at a pleasantly surprising price point! ... show more

  • Awesome bang for the buck that is not for everyone
Updated: 2k plus rounds later, I really like this thing. The reticle seems to work pretty well ranging out to 400 (longest run I've got) and holds zero with no issues. Let's be honest here, you're either going to embrace the reticle on the EP8 for what it does or you're going to hate the thing. Quick Pro's Brighter than expected illumination Better than normal light transmission with the 34mm tube 1x is really good for a budget optic and the reticle is easy to use for close shooting Nice adjustments with audible and tactile clicks Quick Con's It is heavy the 1x reticle has a circle that is far larger than functionally usable the "killbox" reticle is not a precision option I prefer Vortex and Primary Arms for LPVOs, but this is a solid option as long as you understand that it is not really designed for precision shooting but it set up for a fighting platform. The "box" system, at magnification, does give a good general index for ranging a target and getting good center mass hits. Using this at range, don't expect X-ring hits, but it'll do what it is supposed to accomplish (to put it in the most amazon-speak way possible). Adjusting magnification takes a little effort so I'm not worried it is going to change when the wind blows but it doesn't fight you. Tracking is good and zeroed nicely so it is solid at 200 if you do your job. Overall, this is a win and a recommendation if you don't have Trijicon or Nightforce money to spend. ... show more

  • Almost sent back, but im happy I didnt
I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The fit and finish, quality of the optic, and glass clarity are all great for the price. The glass on this will not compete with a Nightforce SHV or Vortex PST gen ii, but does very well against any scope in the sub $800 range I've looked through (i worked in the industry selling optics for almost 3 years, I've looked through a LOT of optics). While I am very happy with this optic and it has been mounted on my go to AR, I almost sent it back when I first received it. When I took it out of the box and was checking eye box and glass clarity prior to mounting, I could not seem to get the 1x to be usable with a massive amount of distortion. 24hrs later the mount from Arken arrived (another great product, would give it 5 stars) and I decided to mount it just in case it was the way I was holding it. It wasn't. But, after alot of time playing with the diopter and adjusting, it is not 99% set. I may do some final tweaks at the range to find the happy medium between 1x and 8x for the diopter setting. That said, 1x is now very very usable with little distortion, I won't say 0 but its almost unnoticeable. Very happy I gave it a chance to mount and adjust before returning it. If youre on the fence about this optic, I would honestly recommend giving it a try. I still own much higher end scopes and won't be switching everything I have to an Arken product. But they do fill their role nicely and offer a ton of product for the money. While I have not tested the reticle myself at distance ranging unknown targets, I have seen many reviews and I do think the reticle is extremely intuitive and usable for the average owner, with just a little practice. If you want a LPVO, I highly suggest you give this one a try ... show more

  • It’s worth every penny
This LPVO is awesome for CQB and quick shots. The glass is crystal clear and lets you hit targets no problem. This is the third one I’ve bought, and I’m gonna slap it on a Ruger SFAR .308 with a 16-inch barrel. Had some hiccups with delivery at first, but Amazon sorted it out right away. Now it comes with front and rear lens caps included. ... show more

  • Love my Arken Scope
I got this Arken scope after reading a few articles on the web about Arken scopes and how much the authors liked them. They were impressed with the quality and clarity of the scope and compared them to much higher priced scopes. I ordered this one as my first Arken scope, it arrived quickly and was in excellent shape when it got here, it also had all the factory parts. I have to say, the scope is exactly as they described, very, very nice and comparable to many others much more expensive. I have since ordered 8 more, in various sizes and will get a chance to mount them up and evaluate them in the future. I have a large collection, and many scopes, from Nightforce, Leupold, Vortex, Nikon and others, these may not have the name recognition some others may have, but they are accurate and work very well. ... show more

  • Arken EP8 1-8x FFP, You won't be disappointed.
This is a solid and affordable 1-8x FFP LPVO. If you know about Arken, they are built strong and durable, like a tank. You can check out any video on YouTube and see the reviews yourself. This is not a long-range precision scope like some of the higher power scopes out there, this is a battle style optic for quick close and midrange distances. It's a little heavier in weight than most people would like, but it a 34mm tube. You will be hard pressed to find a scope with FFP and 34mm tube in this price range and you may have to pay anywhere from 2-4x more for the same features and quality of this scope. It functions just like it is supposed to, covered turret caps are nice, included throw lever make ranging from 1x to 8x easier than some other models out there but not so easy as to throw off your desired zoomed power. No, it's not a Night Force NX8 F1 or Vortex Razor HD, but then again, I am not spending north of $2k either. Best of all, if there is an issue, there is a lifetime warranty on their products. ... show more
