Back in the ole day when oh I was 40 or so an was an active archery target shooter, I never wore any arm protection an sometimes boy if that string got ya ud know it,so now I starting again I figured I'd look into something an came across this one, I needed a right hand an I got the brown it arrived today tried it on really nice fit and the thumb hid is a great idea keeps it from moving around an the leather is a good quality thickness, I was a little concerned about laceing it up with one hand but it was real easy strings a little long great idea but I think I'll cut mine down less tuck in, I treated it with Picard leather dressing just for rain protection an other, but the leather is a great quality not to thick an very soft an flexible right out of the package, when I get my bow back from being re-strung gonna put it through the test I believe I'm gonna be really happy with this product an would definitely recommend it to another archer, good luck shoot well an shoot those ribin-hoods, I have several times at 30 yds. Loving this thing! It comes up high enough that I have to really shoot weird to get underneath the bracer. Don't under estimate me I definitely have done this, but not often. I can't still feel the string hit and it stings a bit, but doesn't bruise. That's with a 45lb bow. It's comfortable, laces up easily, and looks cool! I didn't have to modify it at all to get started which was wonderful! The only downside is the black leather made my arm look bruised for half a day after I wore it hiking/shooting/sweating for 3 hours. I'm assuming that will wear off with time and it doesn't happen when I'm just target practicing. ... show more

Fits well, easy to lace on your own (with teeth) but it’s very thin material. My bowstring thwacks me very hard on my wrist just below my thumb and this didn’t protect me from that much at all. I added some padding on the inside to help cushion the blow and now it’s perfect. If your bowstring is not as brutal as mine, then I’m sure it’ll do fine. ... show more

The protector is nice, it fits my husband well, but I bought it for myself. I wish that the pal section was adjustable. It is HUGE on my small hand, a half inch of leather I have to fold over. I stopped using it after a few sessions of frustration. It's nice if you are a larger adult with adult sized hands. Not so much for smaller amongst us. ... show more

I wasn't expecting much as I am so use to dealing with very thin leather products for archery, but this arm guard is different. The leather is high quality and thicker than expected. I was just shocked the moment I looked at it when I opened the packaging. I own one of those high-end pacific northwest logger boots and they are made of high quality thick leather. I'd say this arm guard's leather is about half as thick as those boots in some areas. I am very impressed. I highly recommend this product to anyone who likes to shoot their bows. ... show more

    • One size fits all?

Product arrived today. It's very well made, with reinforcement in the upper wrist area and along the bottom inside edge of the forearm (basically the most likely places for the bowstring to strike.) The lacing is a little difficult to get right with only being able to use one hand. I can't seem to get both strings to tighten at the same time, so I had a lot of back-and-forth between the two trying to even them up and still ending up with some slack on one side or the other. This isn't too detrimental, though, as the overall fit is okay. To use the speed-lace function, I had to hold both ends of the lacing in my teeth while sliding the slider down to lock them in place. The slider is folded leather, so I am expecting it to loosen up over time and may need to replace it with something plastic or metal. The padded section running between the thumb and index finger doesn't sit right in the crook of my hand. Even when gripping the bow, there is a significant amount of excess leather bunching up in that area. I haven't fired any arrows yet, so don't know if the excess interferes with release or affects accuracy. The leather doesn't go up the stem of my thumb at all, so it's likely that using an historic bow with no arrow rest will still allow for some irritation of the thumb. Seems well made with even stitching and no obvious missed threads, so I suspect it will hold up for a long time. ... show more
