  • Great looking 80’s throwback arcade cabinet!
Style: Atari Legacy
Great looking 80’s throwback arcade cabinet. I really love the look of this one! In my opinion, this is the best-looking Arcade 1up that I own atm. As a kid, Tempest and Asteroids were two of my favorite games. Arcade 1up has gotten so much better with packing since I got the original Centipede cabinet a few years back. With the Atari Legacy Edition Cabinet, Arcade 1up addressed our concerns about questionable packing which damaged pieces during shipping. This cabinet had no damage, and nothing was scratched. Installation took about 15 minutes but be mindful I’ve assembled 10 of these. I will suggest using a drill to make the 4 holes for the cabinet to attach to the base. A flashlight is recommended and also a second set of hands to help, but you can solo it easily. The game selection is very good, but the horizontal screen makes games like centipede smaller which is not an issue, but I find myself playing centipede on the 2018 Arcade 1up cabinet. The games designed for horizontal screens look great. I just wish that Asteroids Deluxe had emulated the arcade background, but I understand why it was not done. The LCD is clear and crisp with good viewing angles. If you are tall like me, then you will notice some view angle ghosting because of the angle, but this is not an issue. When sitting on a bar stool, the view angle is nice and clear. Selecting the games with the trackball works great. The spinner on this cabinet is so much better than the one on my Arcade 1up Asteroids cabinet. It’s enjoyable, but I will be added a 3rd party one as soon as one is available; it’s not necessary but it’s just my preference. The sound is clean and can be adjusted to suit your liking. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Arcade 1up keeps getting better with packing and using quality parts. The buttons, trackball, and spinner are solid, and I find them a much better improvement then what I’ve dealt with in the past from Arcade 1up. ... show more

  • *Update* Broke after 5 hours total gameplay
Style: Atari Legacy
Initially it worked great. I bought in April and played intermittently when time permits. No mashing controls or shaking the arcade cabinet. Yet now it won’t load the games and when it does the games will not start all the buttons are dead. I hold out hope we’ll get a replacement we did buy the warranty but it sounds like Arcade1Up customer service is non existent. Will update review later. I’d stay away***Update 9/4/23*** After contacting Amazon we did get a refund credit to our account. I then purchased another Tempest cabinet which we have assembled. It works good so far after 1 hour of gameplay. Hopefully it does better than the last one at only 5 hours. I’ll submit another updated review in a few months ... show more

  • Low Quality - Fast Response
Style: Atari Legacy
Box was damaged but everything was in good condition. Instructions were decent enough that I didn't find it terrible to put together. Booted up well and was able to play. Visually the setup looks nice. It met expectations. However, after only two days of mild use, the trackball would no longer move up or down. You can feel a physical issue with the ball not moving freely. Like a bad bearing or something. If I was the only person experiencing this, I would just work with the company to resolve it. But there are so many quality complaints here that I just don't want to risk it. Too many people saying the same problem comes back. I feel terrible because this was my son's Christmas present. He was so excited to get this and to have it break so easily confirms many of the ratings I've found. I'll update this later with additional information once seller contacts me about the return request. Update: They responded very quickly to me. Since they were being so good about replacement and quick response I agreed to a controller. A new controller unit was sent over and in just a few days we had a replacement. Unfortunately, I'm still left concerned regarding the quality of the part and purchased a long-term warranty just to be safe. I might update again later on this as well. Update: My son discovered that a part was cracked. I contacted the company and they immediately sent out a replacement part. No questions asked. I've added another start because of the great response. ... show more

  • Very impressed!
Style: Atari Legacy
The box looked a bit worn, but inside everything was good. I was impressed with the packing job, the quality of the items, the way it was organized, the Assembly manual. Also, The games seem to play identically to the original, the spinner is close enough to the original to make the game play with tempest very good. Also, astroids seemed unchanged, The controls responded as expected. The value for the $450 is amazing. I am tempted to buy another one to have it sit next to. I did think the original had sound when in demo mode, I’m sure That would’ve gotten annoying at some point, but I’d like that to be turned on or off if it even existed. I’d have to actually see an original tempest machine to know. I really only bought this for one game, tempest. The only reason you could be disappointed in this, if you enjoyed the original tempest arcade game, is if you happened to get defective parts. The riser did not attach very well. I will probably get some after market bolts to go all the way through. There is a lot of extra room in the cabinet. This could be a great place to hide things. I may hide my cable modem and router in here. EDIT: More than one year later, this is still working like new. A weird thing, occasionally it will start playing by itself; it makes me wonder if there is a short in that one player button. Regardless, it works fine. Edit: after three years still enjoying it, don’t use the track ball much, but it seems to still work fine. I mostly play Tempest. I’m very happy with it as I am with my other 1up consoles. I have 3 altogether and all 3 work great after 3 years. ... show more
