Prior to purchasing this comforter, I looked in stores in Germany and the USA as well as online. I couldn't justify paying the prices that were asked for premium heavyweight comforters, but I was worried that if I purchased a comforter online it would smell funny, poke me with feathers, etc. I took the plunge here because I figured I could return it if I hated it. When it arrived, it was vacuum packed and seemed quite heavy. I opened the package and the was NO SMELL at all, although the package indicated "down and feathers have a natural smell which will fade away once you have taken them out of the package and aired them for some time". I fully expected that it would have at least some odor, but I didn't notice any at all. Initially the comforter was pretty flat, although there was no clumping of the filling and it was very uniform. I shook it slightly and laid it over the bed knowing that it would likely puff up over time. When I returned to it a few hours later, it was still pretty flat so I just shook it in two or three large sections and it plumped up nicely. I was struck by the quality of the workmanship. The seams are tight, there are loops to connect it to the duvet cover, and there is no "dirt" or cotton shell in the fabric that is referred to in the description. The cotton fabric is actually quite smooth and doesn't make any weird crinkling sounds. I purchased a king size for my queen-size bed, since I hate the feeling of a cover that isn't quite big enough; I'm happy to report it nearly touches the floor on both sides of the bed. So far I've slept under it one night, and it was very warm with just a sheet between me and the comforter (I ordered a duvet cover, but it hasn't arrived yet). Overall, I am very impressed by the quality of this comforter. I had no such expectations at this price point. I would be purchasing another one for a Christmas gift, but the heavyweight/optimum warmth is not available. APSMILE, if you are reading this, please make more of these available!! The description is of all season Siberian goose down comforter which leads one to believe the feathers are from a Siberian Goose. After it arrived I looked at the label which states "goose down from China". After researching Siberian goose down, it seems Siberian Goose Down is a myth and a made-up name. The Siberian Goose is an endangered species protected by international treaty. It's breast plumage where the down would come from is red. The feathers in the comforter purchased were certainly not red. This is false advertising in my opinion and by the research that I conducted. I am returning it. ... show more

-UPDATE 2- So we've been sleeping under this duvet for a couple of weeks. It keeps you warm and snugs up around you but feels light all at the same time! We love this duvet!!! -UPDATE- Second Duvet - Thank goodness I'm an Amazon Prime member. The second Duvet received was much better than the last one. The second met my expectations. Please remember that the long side of the duvet goes width across the bed. I've seen reviews on others where people complain about the width isn't wode enough. It has plenty of over hang and. I am giving the review 4 stars because of they offered excellent customer service but it took 2 duvets to get it right. I now have to go to. UPS store and ship the first back. Other than that its comfortable, light, and warm. (First duvet) far I'm not impressed... Some of the squares are so full of down. Others, right in the middle where it would cover me have hardly any filling. I will give it a day to see if it fluffs .so far though. All the other squares have fluffed while one on the middle hasn't. If it fluffs (I doubt) then I'll bump up the reviews. If not I'll return and request another. I want to like it. But the lack of down in what I figure the most important part is lacking ... show more

This is a great "puffy", must be mostly down, not feathers because it is light but very warm (we live on the coast in the Pacific northwest). It has no feather odor, no crackly noises. The lining is soft and smooth, and has a pleasant natural fiber ivory color. It has corner attachments if you want to put it in a duvet cover to keep it clean or for decor, but it is so pretty you don't need to put it in a cover. ... show more

Fantastic quality for the price. I shopped around at my local retailers first but nothing came close to this price. Even discount stores could not compete. I bought two queen size previously for my two kids beds. One was for a queen size mattress and the other for a full size but thick matress (12"). The queen size comforter was perfect for both. With the thicker full size mattress the queen size comforter was not too big. It draped quite a bit but didn't touch the floor. It was perfect. I didn't put the two queen size comforters in the dryer but they puffed up after a couple of weeks on their own. All were thevoptimum warmth option. Yes, they are the real deal. Lots of loft for a comforter. Not exactly light at 64oz fill weight but that's good and it's not like it's an ultra light sleeping bag or anything. No poking feathers. No odd smell. Dimensions were very close to advertised. I measured 89"x105". Advertised at 90"x104" so I would consider it accurate. I was almost ready to return it at first because I had measured it to be 87"x87" but then realized the duvet cover I had bought for it shrank big time in the dryer so the comforter was stuffed into it and not reaching it's full dimensions. Something to be aware of. Measure it before putting in your duvet cover and buy an over sized duvet cover if you plan to use one to account for shrinkage or cold wash and air dry it. Now I have King size duvet cover that now fits our queen comforters. Attached photos are of the King comforter on a King 10" memory foam mattress. Drapes just over a foot on both sides. Stitching is top quality. The fabric has a very high thread count. Almost like microfiber. This comforter is solid through and through. Totally worth buying.
