    • Blistering Speed, Migration went Smoothly
About a week ago, I moved all of my files from my old iMac to this new iMac. I had put off buying the new one because I feared that something would go wrong during migration and I would have problems re-establishing my priority programs. I'm about a week post migration and all seems to be in order. The individual (non-Apple) programs (like Photoshop, Word, Excel) often require you to sign out before migration, so I examined each one to see what it needed to make migration successful. I followed their directions and things went smoothly. I migrated ~340 Gb via WiFi and it took about 6 hours. In general, all I had to do then was sign in to the migrated programs and they ran smoothly. The M1 machine itself is awesome! Cold boots are very quick and program calls are complete in seconds. I am not a power user, so I would say that the machine is way faster than I really need (but I'll take it anyway). I don't know the difference between this 2021 machine and a 2022 machine from the Apple web site, but I'm very happy with this purchase. This was configured the way I wanted (16 Gb memory, 1 Tb SSD) and shipped immediately, so as of this writing, if I did order through Apple, I'd still be waiting (and worrying about the migration). One last note - I photograph a lot and this machine does not have a slot for my camera SD cards, like my old iMac did. However, I was able to buy a portable one through Satechi that attaches to a port in the back, so all is well. ... show more

    • This M1 machine is fast and works like a charm.
My older iMac was a 2015 27" model with an super fast chip, but it could not update the operating system past version 12. I bought the newest iMac M1 with 16 gb of memory, 1 ter. of SSD memory in the 24" size. It transferred everything from my old iMac easily. I could not get Filemaker Pro 18 to work, so found that FM19.5 should work. Bought it, installed it, and it handles my databases lightening fast and does not need to update the files, so it works on my home and laptop without a problem. It handles Photoshop without a pause. You can’t use USB plugs on this computer, only type “C” which is not what I’d hoped for. No disc drive capability and unit is designed like an I phone for use an not a computer. Not what I was expecting and I couldn’t return as I did get to setup and use until I’d returned and the return item time had pasted/expired. ... show more

Purchasing a 24" iMac at this time (Aug. 2022) is difficult. Apple has wait times of two months for 16 gb machines. Expercom had this machine preconfigured and available immediately. Package delivered and in perfect condition. I am slowly replacing a late 2015 iMac 27" which I still love but will not be able to be upgraded to Mac OS Ventura this fall. Monterey OS has an import flaw. It will not recognize the administrator password. Causing big reset issues.

    • Didn’t realize I was buying a sports car.
This thing is fast, it is close to instantaneous. The display colors and detail are outstanding. Apple has certainly out done themselves with this M1 chip. Definitely worth the money spent.
