  • Unique

Arrived in good shape. Love how unique it is.

  • Great platter, but no packing materials .
Scent: Blue with face Size: Serving plate
Beautiful platter. Nice size to display our culinary creations. My only complaint is not about the product, but how it was shipped. There was absolutely no packing materials in the box. The platter was able to slide around the Amazon box quite a bit. We were worried we would find it broken, but luckily it was not. ... show more

  • STUNNING. EXPRESSIVELY PAINTED AND BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED.
Scent: White with face Size: Dessert plate
When I first opened the box in which these plates came, I was so overwhelmed with laudatory words, I didn’t know where to begin. I wanted to write down every glowing word of praise immediately, but I had a holiday dinner (Passover) to serve. And I had more than four guests, so I unfortunately could not use these little plates for dinner. So I put them aside to admire and appreciate later. These plates are stunning. They’re even stunning when turned upside down. They’re beautifully, aesthetically crafted, and expressively painted in a way that feels genuinely artistic and not mass-produced. I love everything about these plates, even the glaze at top, and the matte finish at bottom. But what really blew me away about these plates — that I had not realized when serving my Passover dinner — is that they are “Feast Tableware by OTTOLEGHI.” Yotam Ottolenghi is a renown chef and restauranteur. I have taken his “Master Class.” The recipe for the carrots I served for Passover was from Yotam Ottolenghi’s Master Class! I could not believe the serendipity of the plates arriving on Passover, and my serving a dish created by the creator of the plates. It all made the plates seem more special. These Feast Tableware plates are phenomenal. The carrots were phenomenal. They were the hit of the dinner. I wish I could’ve served the carrots on these plates. It would’ve been a providential marriage of craft and artistry. ... show more

  • Nice, beautiful, abstract plates; not fully glazed on the back so will stain if you are not careful
Scent: White with face Size: Dessert plate
The art work on the plates is abstract and pretty neat. Make sure you orient them properly or one may not realize the painting is of a face. The plates are surprisingly heavy for their size. The colors are pretty earthy and muted. The finish (glaze) is really smooth and high quality. A note of caution: the back of the plate is not fully glazed and can pick up stains if you are not careful. For example, if you serve for your entree a tomato-based Italian dish (say perhaps, spaghetti) and use these lovely dessert plates to serve tiramisu, make sure these plates do not come into contact with the tomato sauce or the back rims will be stained! So, just be aware of that one item, and take precautions, and these will remain beautiful , flawless, and unique plates. Note that we hand-wash and put these in the dishwasher. ... show more

  • Lovely indulgence for fans of the celebrity chef/author Yotam Ottolenghi
Scent: White with face Size: Dessert plate
What a lovely discovery to find these whimsically designed little plates on offer here! Fans of the justly celebrated London based chef and author (cookbooks, contributions to The Guardian) will find much to admire in this very gift-worthy set of dessert-sized dishes adorned with the results of a collaboration with Italian artist Ivo Bisignano. I am very much enjoying Plenty - a plant-based recipe book by Yotam Ottolenghi - gifted to me by friends I’m always pleased to have educate me with experiences gained by their adventures in the culinary world. The recipes are as beautifully photographed and presented as they are flavorful. I am looking forward to returning the favor by presenting these cheerful little plates to them as my gift. Although I’ll always enjoy stumbling upon little luxuries of connection to my enthusiasms in person - it’s certainly quite convenient to discover thoughtfully designed items such as these plates online. Overall it’s quite nice that Serax has made this collaboration available here - for the perfect gift for your foodie friends - I’d suggest pairing them with an Ottolenghi cookbook! ... show more

  • Expensive plates made in China, Geared to a niece crowd.
Scent: White with face Size: Dessert plate
Short, Sweet, And Simple Review. Upon receiving this product and opening it, I immediately recognized that it’s definitely geared towards a niche crowd, but I do appreciate the artwork for reasons I can't quite pinpoint. I also ordered some drinking glasses from the same company, endorsed by the same designer and chef. While I'm unsure who this designer is—having never seen their name attached to anything else—I’m no one special but seasoned enough as a professional chef by trait to be cautious when it comes to designer-endorsed products. These can either be truly high-end or just gimmicky. In this case, I question why the designer chose to manufacture this product in China. Given China's reputation for mass-producing almost anything, it’s rare to find truly high-end quality from there. Why wouldn't the designer opt for a country known for its quality glass and porcelain production? My theory is that they’re trying to maximize profit by using cheaper labor and materials that mimic high-end quality—something China is notorious for, given the abundance of cloned products in the market today. I find it hard to justify purchasing these plates for this reason. It’s somewhat disappointing, in my opinion, for a designer to place their name on what feels like dollar-store-quality products while charging a premium. Regardless of how luxurious or abstract these plates appear, I would recommend looking for a designer-endorsed product where the designer actually cares about the quality of the materials and manufacturing process. It's more reassuring to invest in a product where the designer prioritizes quality and craftsmanship over profit. ... show more
