  • Migrated from a TN monitor and WOW!
Size: 27 inch Style: QHD Curved 240Hz
VISUALS: I “upgraded” to this monitor due to some panel problems with my Pixio Px276. TN panels are known to be “dull” or not have the best colour accuracy so I expected this VA panel to provide a big visual difference and I wasn’t disappointed. The blacks are very dark and not as grey as they appeared on my previous monitor. I am currently playing through FFXVI and wow, is it a visual spectacle on this monitor! When testing on dark games primarily like FF7 remake the contrast caused the other colours to really pop on the screen. The colours are more vibrant than my previous TN panel and creates a much more visually appealing display. CURVE: Initially I was concerned with the 1000R curvature but this turned out to be a non issue after a couple days of usage. I am not sure if it was necessary for a 27” monitor as I do still find myself turning my head slightly when trying to focus on content at the furthest edge of the screen but I sit about two and a half feet away from it so it may not be an issue if you are closer. I have found that the curve does provide a more immersive experience when gaming or watching a movie. FRAMERATE: I don’t play competitive games so the 240HZ of this monitor is a bit overkill for my needs plus I don’t really have the GPU power to run newer titles at that frame rate. I did however try some older titles like Borderlands 2 to experience these high frame rates and they are buttery smooth although I personally can’t really seem to tell the difference between the 100s and 200s range. HDR: Unfortunately HDR is not supported on Ubuntu yet but I did try to test it on a Windows 10 machine and was left a bit perplexed. Now, I had heard that HDR wasn’t great on PC/Windows but I did not expect to have giant pixilated blocks with HDR enabled. I understand that some fine tuning is required to get HDR to work properly but I did not bother to pursue it as HDR wasn’t really a requirement for me but more of a bonus feature of the monitor. NEGATIVES: The only negative is that I found the menus to be a bit cumbersome to navigate at least when compared to my previous Pixio monitor. In my opinion the “normal” colour mode appeared to be more accurate than the default “warm” selection but I have barely made any changes to the monitor, using it with mostly default out of the box settings. I know there is an app that can be installed instead of fiddling with the monitor controls but I haven’t tested it. CONCLUSION: The monitor has worked great with no dead pixels etc over the last couple months of usage and do I hope it continues to last with no issues. I have known AOC to be a good legacy brand at least from the CRT days and I hope that legacy has been upheld over the years so that it has the same type of longevity and reliability as those older monitors. I think it’s a great monitor and from my personal experience it serves as a big upgrade in visual fidelity over a TN panel. ... show more

  • Great display
Size: 27 inch Style: QHD Flat IPS 240Hz
Amazing colors. Low latency. Top performance. This display is worth the price!! Went from a Samsung G9 to this and I couldn't be happier. Best bang for the buck high refresh rate IPS display out there.

  • Beautiful picture. Works great for gaming
Size: 27 inch Style: QHD Curved 240Hz
This monitor looks amazing. I love it. I play lots of games and the quality on this is unbeatable. Super easy to set up and the size is perfect for me and is just as described. It's not super heavy which makes moving it easier. I haven't used the speakers on it so I'm not sure on sound quality. Works amazing. ... show more

  • Best monitor I've owned, few compromises
Size: 45 inch Style: AGON WQHD OLED Curved 240Hz
Fantastic monitor. Curve is perfect for how far back I sit from it. Very responsive, bright colors, dark darks, has the connectors that I needed, I'm using the DisplayPort and the USB-C connectors. More DisplayPort connections would have been preferable to the HDMI connections that it has instead, but USB-C is doing extremely well so I can't complain too much. When I first turned it on, it had a weird splotchiness to the color. In the menu it turns out there's an option to refresh pixels, basically making the monitor turn off for 10 minutes then turn back on, and after doing a refresh it looked much better. I didn't see anything in the setup directions suggesting to do this, I found it scrolling desperately through menus looking for anything that would fix what I otherwise was going to return the monitor for. Solid colors look a little bit grainy, but I only notice this when large expanses of my screen are darkish grays and get up closer than I'm usually sitting at my screen to look at it. Playing games or watching videos it's totally fine. With a dark enough dark mode (I use 0x000000 black for large expanses of my color schemes and custom CSS, which is part of why I wanted to spring for an OLED) it's also not a problem. I may not have noticed it other than when I looked closely because of the earlier splotchiness from when I first turned it on, but successive pixel refreshes haven't made the faint graininess go away. Controls for the monitor are a bit difficult to reach, on the back if you reach underneath the right side. I don't like that I have needed to use a remote to control my monitor, but the remote has been working acceptably well. It's pretty large but also very thin, so if you bump it, it'll sway and bounce for a little bit. I think it's an acceptable compromise, since I don't bump it often, but it did surprise me. It was disappointing that there are so few monitors that can meet the specs of this one, and the only other one I could find had a big ugly ROG logo underneath it that I didn't want to stare at all day. Loud branding is incredibly obnoxious, so the subtle branding on this one was a welcome alternative. This is the best monitor I've owned now that the splotchiness is fixed. I don't know if I can ever go back down from 240Hz or OLED. ... show more

  • After using for almost quite a full year, and forgot to write a review many months ago...
Size: 27 inch Style: QHD Curved 180Hz
The monitor is pretty good, but one has to remember it's a VA panel. There is some blacklight bleed as all VAs have, I've not had issue, as it varies panel to panel in production of such. This is the second AOC monitor I've owned in like... 25 years. This monitor is better than my old VA panel Viotech generic brand one which had got in 2018 and went to the digital grave when attempting to use G-Sync or something late 2024. It was also 27" sized screen like this one, but not as "strong" as the 1500R curve as this. This AOC monitor can do HDR if you want, but oh man that hurts my eyes sitting about an arm length away, so I don't. G-Sync/VRR also works on this, but remember this isn't an OLED/QD-LED so high frame rates and ghosting will happen, this is more for cinematic gaming/and browsing web/etc. Color is good, but not OLED/QD-OLED level. Documentation was kind of light, and they do expect you to download the monitor app for more in depth use and firmware updates. ... show more
