  • Great radio for the price
This rig is terrific for the price. As others have noted, it uses the same new board as the newest generation of the Stryker 955, a fabulous radio. It's like getting the performance of the Stryker for just a bit more than half price. Transmit audio is excellent on all modes just using the stock mic. The radio is rock stable on sideband. There is no drifting. Mine arrived spot on frequency from the factory. The receiver is excellent also, very smooth sounding on all modes. My only complaint is the use of a RJ-45 jack for the mic. Anytone cheaped out on that. Yes, I know that many ham rigs use them. I have many and hate it on those rigs as well. They are cheap and the mic connectors break easily. Anytone had plenty of room to fit a standard 4 or 6 pin jack, making it easier to wire up amplified mics. Aside from that one issue, which can be remedied with an adapter, this is THE rig to get for the mobile or a nice base setup with a power supply. Great job Anytone. ... show more

  • It seems to be a great radio
So far there is nothing I dislike. I wanted a big LCD and it doesn’t disappoint. This AI noise reduction seems to work fairly well, I have a lot of static in my location which makes it difficult to talk to weak stations. It does actually help! I haven’t even figured out all of the bells and whistles yet and it has a lot but they are all useful features. It’ll be weeks or more before I’ll have a good grasp of the radio. I’ll update if need be. !ONE THING TO KNOW! If you plan to expand this radio to its full potential of 10 through 12 meters it voids the warranty's! It is very simple to do and I have done it, my warranty is now void so keep that in mind. Also you can’t change the LCD color if that is important to you. ... show more

  • Excellent radio.
Everyone says it has the best audio output of all my radios. Crank up the mic gain and set echo at 10. Any higher than 10 isn't good. Easy conversion.

  • Nice Radio
This is a very nice radio. Good value for the price. The first thing you will notice when you unpack this radio is that you've been transported back to 1989. It has look, size and feel of a late 1980's radio. Think RCI Ranger 2950 or 2970. It has the size of that radio, but with about half the weight, and not built like a tank as they were. No where near as quiet as my old 2950, but just as sensitive, and much better selectivity than the 2950. You don't get all of that bleeding over from adjacent and even two or three channels away that the 2950 and 2970 were infamous for. Too bad it's not as small and compact as Anytone's 6666, but maybe the extra air in the case will help with cooling. Overall, a nice radio. Time will tell if it's reliable over time. ... show more

  • Excellent reception and good transmit power.
This is a well made radio. It is exactly what a prepper should have. It has 10 meter, 11 meter, and 12 meter capabilities. Also has auto aleart weather channels and can be used on FM , AM , USB & LSB. With output power adjustable from 1 to at least 60 watts Plus. I was a little hesitant to buy it but I am really glad that I did. I have talked all across the US and foreign contacts, with good reports on my signal and audio. I'm using a 20ft CB Base Station Antenna. I will do a review on it also. ... show more

  • Great Radio
Love this radio. I actually talked to another radio enthusiast in Hawaii and I live in Central Oregon. The auto noise reduction works really well.

  • Best radio for the money
This radio is phenomenal. Once you get it set up, it will be the best sounding radio on the air.... I am constantly getting commented on the excellent quality. And I am extremely satisfied with the receive on this radio and the ease of use. I would highly recommend. I am using it as a base station and I plan on buying another for a backup and another for my pickup truck. ... show more

  • Oversized and complicated to use while on the road
The good: Sound quality Power Easy to Mod The bad: It's bulky and for no good reason. When you open it to mod for 11m, you'll see 70% is just empty space. The quad 6 is similar in specs so I really don't think it's about heat God speed if you try using the menus while driving. Nothing is intuitive enough to do without taking your attention completely off the road I'll likely be trying out a quad 6 and selling this off. ... show more
