    • Two simultaneous SD cards share speed of controller
This works great, and as another reviewer mentioned caps out at about 80-90MB/s. Worth noting is that even though each SD card is individually capable of those speeds and the USB3 bus is more than capable of transferring multiple times that, this reader cannot read both cards at that speed simultaneously. You can transfer one SD card at 80MB/s, and once you start copying from the second slot one will drop to 10MB/s and the other will drop to 70MB/s. The controller effectively shares the 80MB/s. However, if you have two or three of these plugged into a USB3 hub, each one will gladly transfer 80MB/s to a fast enough destination drive. ... show more

    • Useful since I can't transfer from camera straight to phone via wifi or bluetooth.
I love being able to transfer my photos from the memory card straight to the phone. Normally I'd have to wait until I get back home or the hotel before sharing my pictures. As a bonus, I have back up of my favorites of the day on my phone before I get back and store them on my portable HD.

    • Slow heavy files transfer
The card reader works fine, but when trying to transfer heavy files, it starts getting hot, and the transfer speed slows down. Also, the connection seems too fragile; I would like it to be more stable.

I’m not super techy, by any means. Other reviews might offer more insight, but I love this thing. It is so convenient and seems durable. It has been good to me for transferring RAW images at a fast speed. I’m content with this purchase.
