If you are playing Animal Crossing New Leaf without this guide -- you are missing out on 90% percent of the game. The book is 527 pages of fun and adventure. The book is so well organized and well written. Every single page is colored and glossy. I personally would pay $100 for this awesome book. If you own the game the book is absolutely mandatory. I do not have the time to write a long review because I have to get back to the game. I promise ------- you will LOVE this guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE JULY 23 I have been playing ACNL for 6 weeks and I stand by my original review. This is a must have to completely play the game. I play everyday for at least a couple of hours. I have only found one incorrect catalog price.I can not understand the negative reviews. The people who are bashing this book did not read it nor are the fans of the game. The book also includes all the coffee recipes for the villagers. If you want to advance in the game the book is necessary. Many things about ACNL can be found on the Internet. Who has time to get on the internet when you need to quickly sell or purchase a piece of furniture? Who has the time to get on the Internet to learn about your complete daily outfit choice? Are you going to mix a sporty piece of clothing with a historical piece of clothing and then have Gracie give you a negative review? "Galloping Grasshoppers" buy this book. A complete monthy calendar is available for all town events,fish, bugs, etc. Real fans of the game own the book and know who says "Galloping Grasshoppers." Who sings you a song when you completely pay off your house? What type of animal is in charge of removing the weeds from your town?

I know some of you read so many bad reviews about errors in this guide. I told you right now, these people never bother reading the fine prints in the book. The values of all items in the book are CORRECT. There is no mislabeling or translational error. People, READ for pete's sake. These values are based on the buying prices on the store (Nokingoton and future upgrade). If your character is to buy these items from Tommy & Timmy, you will pay the exact price as the guide indicate. However, when you sell the products back to the store, you can only get 1/4 of its original price. This is the same as Re-tail store, although re-tail store price may be a bit cheaper. Nonetheless, if you are to sell a product to Re-tail, you only get 1/4 of its original value. I love this book. It's small, so I can carry it in my bag easily. It's got beautiful full-color pages that are laid out in a pleasing and simple way so that it's easy to find the information that you want. It has a full calatogue of all of the items you can get as of the release date with places for four players to check them off. It's got a list of events and what to do for them, as well as foreign holidays so that you can try to visit other people and celebrate with them. It has a list of all of the neighbors, their aspirations, and their preferred coffee. And my favorite part is the month-to-month calendar, which lists events and available fish and insects. I've referred to this guide very frequently for information about furniture sets, catching fish and bugs, and to get a peek about new neighbors here and there, and I'm always very pleased with the book.

Rumors about this strategy guide began not long after it was released, starting with people saying that some strategy guides were missing or had duplicate pages. I ordered this strategy guide before the game was released, and never had a problem with duplicate pages. It does have a lot of information, and it is fairly well organized. The catalogue is a little difficult to find the items you are looking for in, but that can be over looked. However, there are some things that I wish this strategy guide would include. There are also a few things this strategy guide is wrong about. One thing the strategy guide is wrong about is the animals favorite coffee section. I found that not only is it missing some of the animal types completely (such as alligators), but some of the characters favorites are incorrect. There were a few other things the guide is missing and/or incorrect about, but I am overall happy with this guide. There are some very helpful sections and it is nice to have if you feel like browsing through the catalogue. While there were some mistakes, there is a lot of useful information that can really help you through some parts of the game. The guide also has boxes above each item so that you can mark (up to four players) what items you have in your in game catalogue. One thing this strategy guide is extremely helpful for is Gracie's fashion challenge! If it wasn't for this guide, I don't know how quickly I ever would've gotten Nookington's, as you have to impress Gracie enough times with certain types of clothes to get it The guide tells you what theme each piece of clothing, accessory, or furniture is.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is Nintendo's newest edition into their Animal Crossing Franchise. Unlike some of the guides that have been released in the past for the Animal Crossing series, it would seem that this particular Prima guide has fallen flat, and to be honest I've never been more disappointed by a guide purchase in recent memory. That being said, the guide isn't a complete waste of your money, but if you're expecting it to contain all of the information that you would expect a guide for Animal Crossing to include, you will be disappointed. Pros: - If you have never played the franchise before, the early parts of the guide will make your re-adjustment to the Animal Crossing gameplay and lifestyle MUCH easier. They will detail all of the tricks of the trade with the various tools you are given to earn bells with and how to eventually get upgraded versions of those tools. - The guide includes a month-by-month calendar of what wildlife is available, so this ensures that you always can progress with your fish and bug collection without having to resort to 'time-traveling'. - The guide includes a complete catalog of items in the game with checkboxes so you and the other players in the house can mark your progress. (Ex: Checkboxes are labeled P1, P2, P3, P4 for the 4 villagers allowed in one town.) - You will learn tips such as being able to figure out which paintings are 'false' when the fox, Redd, comes to your town. - I'm indifferent about this, but an e-version of the guide is available. It's not formatted very well for the e-format, but if you are unable to use the book you will have it available online. Cons: - The most outrageous thing I found myself getting frustrated over with this guide is how the guide itself did not seem to even be properly updated or modified to the final version of the game. If you're looking for the actual prices of fish, bugs, and similar things that can be sold in the game you will be VERY disappointed. The e-version of the guide will "warn" you that the fish will only be able to be sold for a 1/4th of their value that the guide considers the item has. For a guide that is cataloging crucial information such as this, it is absolutely unacceptable that the information isn't just made apparent of what the actual re-tail cost for items are. - The guide details your neighbor's species and things such as their catch phrases, their birthdays, and their favorite activities, but the guide itself does not actually show you pictures of each and every single villager. It would be rather hard to find a way to get a picture for every single villager in the game of animal crossing, but it is something you would expect out of a guide for a game when you can generally never expect to see most of these characters ingame, it should be a resource of what some other players may have gotten, or even what you can hope for. - The guide is too vague sometimes about how to unlock certain things in the game. The Animal Crossing series isn't a series that is recommended to many children that are just learning how to read, or are still struggling with reading due to the amount of conversations that occur during the game, but sometimes the guide is vague enough to cause confusion even in the most seasoned of Animal Crossing players. All and all, I was expecting more from this strategy guide for the game, but if you're hoping for a resource to serve as a checklist for items available in the game, you'll find it more than suitable.

Animal Crossing is a game where keeping track of all the various items is very helpful, and the Prima guide to Animal Crossing Wild World was great, so I purchased this guide when I purchased New Leaf. There are some pros for this book and some cons, which for me balances out to this book being just okay. Pros: - Keeping track: This is the big kahuna of pros for me. I enjoy keeping track of what I've bought, caught, and earned because it helps me complete my collections and trade with other players. Additionally, the book is set up so items can be checked off for up to 4 characters, so you can use it for multiple characters and/or you can share it with a family member very easily. - Calendar: The calendar section of the book is arranged nicely and serves as a great reference. Each month has a calendar with holidays and animal character birthdays noted, followed by a list of all the fish and insects available during that month. This helps me check to see if I've done and collected all things possible. - Animal character information: The characteristics and preferences of each animal character is good to have so I can give them appropriate gifts and order items for their birthdays. - Coffee information: It's really useful to have the charts of what types of coffee each animal prefers. Otherwise, it would take forever in the game to figure it out on my own. Cons: - Format: I don't really like the smaller, thicker format of this book compared to the larger, thinner book for Wild World because I can't leave this book open to a specific page for reference while playing. - Not as much information as I'd like: There is very little actual gameplay information in the book, so I end up going online when I need it. Someone else already mentioned thonky.com, and I've found that site to be a great help in many areas. - Unreliable prices: The prices in my book don't match up to the prices in the game, which doesn't really affect me in the game too much, but it seems that a game guide should have better accuracy in general. - Layout: This is the big kahuna of cons for me. I prefer items to be listed alphabetically because that makes it SO much easier to find out quickly if I already have an item or not, or what groups something belongs to (style, set, etc.). I'm fine with the big categories being separated into their own sections, but within those categories the items are listed randomly. So when I want to see if I've checked off something, or what the characteristics are, I have to go to the index in the back and find it, then go back to the listed page and find it again. It's REALLY time-consuming to go through the catalog at the Nooks' store and check off what I have, or to try to check things off as I get them! Overall, I'm glad I purchased this book. But I do hope that Prima improves their guide format for the next Animal Crossing game, otherwise I will probably skip buying it and stick to finding information online and printing out the online lists of items.

Very good guide and excellent Amazon support! I really recommend both. IMPORTANT: 1) There are two prints of this guide. This is the second print. 2) The first print usually comes factory sealed, has a dust jacket and contains many errors/wrong information regarding game content (such as all prices in the game). The second print, again, this one in the ad, does not come factory sealed, has no dust jacket but is updated containing no errors or wrong information. 3) Besides these differences everything else is the same. 4) Most of the sellers don't know the difference between the guides. I contacted Prima Games to help me solve this issue and they confirmed the information I posted to you above. So, if possible, prefer buying from this ad directly from Amazon. Of course, feel free to buy from any other sellers if you feel comfortable and know which print you're getting. My experience and conclusion: I got this guide from Amazon and as soon as I opened the box I noticed it was different from the ones I saw on the internet and YouTube reviews. Amazon support was great and they sent me another one to double-check if there was any problem. In the meantime I contacted Prima Games and with the information in hands, spoke to Amazon support and solved the problem. I also recommended additions in the item description in order to help people differentiate the books so they will know there's nothing wrong with their order/product in case they notice differences in other people's guides wherever they find it. Great companion to the game. It helps for marking off what you want to catalog & goes through every category. Brought this for my daughters along with the game & they love how everything is organized. I did hear from them & from online that there are a few typo errors, but overall my daughters were satisfied with it's organization & details. I recommend this guide as a quick reference to help you get your town, house & museum up & running!
