    • A handy starter set with some compromises
A handy starter set with some compromises This 4-piece Anezus jewelry pliers kit comes with the essentials: round nose, needle nose, bent nose, and cutters. I picked it up to have a compact set on hand for basic repairs and light jewelry work, and it does the job well enough for that purpose. The pliers are lightweight, and the dipped handles give a decent amount of grip, though not as cushioned as higher-end tools. The range of shapes is very useful — I found myself using the round nose for forming small loops and the bent nose for reaching into awkward spots. The cutters work for thinner gauge wire and findings, but I wouldn’t rely on them for anything heavy; you can feel the strain if you try to cut thicker wire. One thing I noticed is that the action on a couple of the pliers felt a little stiff at first. After a bit of use they loosened up, but if you’re used to professional-grade jewelry tools you’ll feel the difference right away. These are clearly more of a hobbyist set than a professional one, but they’re fine for fixing broken chains, adding jump rings, or making simple beadwork.
