If you are new to the Android system and happen to have a Samsung phone, know that the book is describing features in the Pixel phone. The author does say so, but it is of little help to somebody looking at a Samsung unit. There ARE differences and they are not fully explained. If you, as I, are reasonably familiar with a Samsung phone, this is not going to be a lot of help if you are looking for a few very cool pointers you have not been aware of. There are few. I am at page 89 (of 262 pages of text) and have set the book aside to read at a really slow pace, when there is little else to do. I will get through it, but I don't expect to learn a whole lot. You would probably be a lot better off and faster if you asked a kid to show you what you can do with your Samsung, or Pixel, for that matter. ... show more

This book can get you started but like most of these books it presumes you know more than you know. It needs to be more of a primer for people like me who never owned one before and are 73 years old The book needs an iconongraphy to explain all those symbols (What does a crooked red arrow mean? - I still do not know). Also a glossary and a better index. Many times reference is made to things I don't understand. ... show more
