    • It's Just a Luxury Purchase for Big Kirby Fans, Honestly
I said I would never buy amiibos again a while back because they just always felt cheap to me and I ended up with a bunch of the original released Smash ones that turned to literal junk in value so I basically had to give them away to rid of them. I only collected characters I liked which didn't have higher quality figures available, like Rosalina, and kept them in the original boxes, too. I saw Sakurai show off these Air Riders amiibos in the Nintendo Direct and I noticed they actually looked way higher in quality than standard amiibos and are a lot bigger. It may have to do with the fact that Kirby characters are simple in their shape, so they are able to just put more effort into the quality. I'm an old Kirby fan going back since the SNES Kirby Super Star and the original Kirby Air Ride is a cult classic to me and I spent way too much time as a kid playing alone in City Trial, so I decided... Ok, I'll do an exception just once for these Kirby amiibos. I was surprised the amiibos I received looked just as high quality as the Nintendo Direct ones. Usually, companies show off prototypes that look way better than the final product but this was not the case here. They are also sturdy, weighing around 4oz each. Paint job is good, too! Kirby and his Warp Star are simple but well done; he has a modeled 3D mouth. The gimmick to these is that you can swap the characters and machines. More characters are coming next year. I mean, for amiibo quality, this is probably as good as it gets without rising the price too much. They actually feel like toys this time rather than miniatures. Which brings me to the price... With the upcoming other characters, the full Air Riders set will cost you $250! Is that insane? Yes, I think so during this particular time. I consider these luxury purchases for that reason. I wasn't sure if I should dock a star for the price tag, since the figures are completely acceptable and definitely better painted and sturdier than smaller sized amiibo. I think for most consumers, the price is too much. I even hesitated about getting the full set but I love the upcoming characters too. They do very little inside the game and you don't need them at all for the game. The game is featured pack already from the get go. For a mega Kirby fan, these are a 10/5. Probably 4/5 for everyone else due to the price. Very expensive plastic shelf decorations, although extremely charming and unique. I'm really looking forward to Meta Knight, Dedede, and my underrated favorite, Chef Kawasaki! He was a favorite of mine in the Kirby anime. If someone had gifted these to me, I would also be over the moon as a Kirby fan so I think these make great luxury gifts. ... show more

Pros: ✅ Kirby is HUGE, and it's so beautiful ✅ It's actually very high-quality, no flaws whatsoever except... See con ✅ In-game capabilities include recognition of each unique character/vehicle, making them all interchangeable with other amiibos in the series (Waddle Dee, Kawasaki, Meta Knight, and King Dedede) ✅ Figure Players will appear in-game based on which base/character, as mentioned; they can be played in a separate mode where you can gain levels and machine proficiency. All of the data is saved onto each part individually. Kinda neat! ✅ The major perk of the amiibos includes unlocking exclusive rewards like music and wallpapers ✅ If collecting... The plastic is POWERFUL and almost indestructible. The whole display is just gorgeous. Cons: ❌ Hopefully it won't happen to you... But my Kirby came damaged. The plastic was so powerful that it set into his tiny hand, and it's permanently disfigured. I don't mind, but the normally flawless craftsmanship and quality control of amiibos somehow escaped mine... And for the hefty price tag, I expect better. ❌ EXPENSIVE. It's priced as TWO separate amiibos which... Is fair, but doesn't change the fact that my wallet is in pain. ❌ For collectors...
