The instructions say it will take 1-2 people about 1 hour to assemble and labels the difficulty level as moderate. I put it together myself in about two hours. Take into account I'm 4 months post-partum and not as strong as I once was, so I definitely felt like assembly put me through the ringer - but it's totally doable. The book case is rather heavy and seems to be pretty sturdy - so that's good. I recommend definitely taking the time to get organized before diving in to assembly. I was missing one screw (I counted them as soon as I opened the bag they were in and was, indeed, shorted) but I was able to borrow from our stash of screws in the garage. So, no big deal. I definitely faltered at the cam locks (I hate cam locks) but they actually weren't too bad. The instructions are so-so, especially if you're someone who really benefits from having the instructions spelled out word for word. I did come to a couple of spots where I had to redo one shelf multiple times because I kept missing a step (my fault). I've read through some other reviews here and I've noted a couple folks mention missing pre-drilled holes. My thoughts on this (and perhaps I'm wrong) is that they've got something on backwards. All the pre-drilled holes I needed were provided, except when I was inadvertently putting a part on incorrectly. So, definitely check your install before giving up. At the end of it all, I did end up with one slender back-piece, up on the very top, that got installed backwards - and I left it. I was so done at that point and it really isn't that noticeable - except the predrilled holes for the very top of the back are on the front of the bookcase instead of the back where they should be. Oh well. All in all, once I was done, it didn't seem so bad. I feel like I could do another in half the time next time. I do wish they'd provided a bit more wood glue with the parts - though I may have been heavy handed with the glue. My husband was shocked when he got home and saw that I'd put this big bookcase together and was pleased with how sturdy the shelf is. We moved it to the nursery and it looks great. Will update with a picture later.

I was a little hesitant to buy, because reviews seemed mixed. It arrived in good shape for me, with no damage. Everything was clearly labeled, including screws. Only tool needed is a screwdriver, though I did use a power drill in the end, as there are a lot of little screws in the back. It is quite deep, stable, holds a lot. I bought two because they seemed small but definitely could have gotten away with one. Only issue I had was the 'lip' on the top shelf of one bookshelf. I would have left it off if I didn't have two, as it looks fine without, but need to buy some longer wood screws now to out the lip on so that it matches the other. I tried using the power drill for this shelf and I think I just damaged the wood a bit. Another option would be to call for another top shelf part, but I think that is not needed. For the price, it is amazing - looks great, solid, instructions easy to follow.

This is exactly what I wanted. It seems like its great quality and has tons of space. FYI it was very heavy, I needed help bringing it up to my apartment. I did assemble it by my self though, which took about 2 hours - not horrible. *You will need a couple screwdrivers for assembly that are not in the package*

Gave 4 star's due to the cool look, heavy sturdiness and functionality of the Shelves. Started off easy to put together then noticed a couple of the wooden posts and metal parts missing that hold it together. We ordered white finish in this book shelf and a couple of wooden posts and metal parts were also missing. It is very heavy so not easy to return if you do not like. The Back Board for the bookcase was really challenging to attach, as the screw holes did not align with the screw holes on the frame of bookcase so we had to wing it and also use a level to make sure it kept the bookcase aligned and not leaning to one side. We prefer the espresso finish, the white finish was not as good quality, a few finish chips and the wood pieces on front of shelves did not flush fit with the sides so their are small gaps. Bookcase being white causes these gaps to show up more. Espresso finish shelves fit so well.

This thing is HEAVY!!! I felt so bad for my mailman to have had to carry this very LONG and extremely heavy box to my door. Thankfully I'm on the first floor. 1. Instructions were nothing but pictures. Poorly described pictures as well. But I figured it out. 2. By myself and watching trash tv it took me about 2.5hrs. 3. Putting the screws and dowels in the boards=easy part. Even putting the boards on one side of the shelving was minor. Annoying; and tedious but doable by yourself. 4. Now. Getting to the side "B" of the shelves. EFF THAT! (Yes I will buy another one bc it's great!) holy smokes, talk about tedious and had I been working with someone else it would have shown true friendship had it not broken us up. 5. Screw everything with a hand screw driver and screw the Board to the back with a drill. It's just easier. 6. Had enough glue. One board didn't have its respective letter so I guessed (all the boards are different sizes. Not hard to guess. Lol) also, again the pictures showed a board with ONE dowel on the edge when really there were two. :/ 7. This thing is heavy and beautiful! 8. once put into my lo's room it was wobbly, there were two plastic stud things missing from one side on the bottom. They are like rubber feet to be more studier I guess, but it only came with two on one side. I put some a kleenex package under one side and it helped to offset the balance. Will probably remove the other two; I was just too excited to fill it up. I will be buying another one!! Also, it's tall. It's as tall as I am 5'3.
