I received this the day before I was leaving for a last-minute trip so it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. First thing I noticed was just how lightweight this was for a carry-on… only 7 pounds. As I'm getting older, it's become a little harder to get my bag up into the overhead compartments on the plane by myself so I appreciate anything that keeps the weight down. As with other "clamshell" type bags, this one has one side that zips completely closed, with added pockets for things like liquids that need to be kept separate. The other side has the crisscross elastic band for clothing. I really like the style of the bag. I got the black one because, though the color might be boring, it won't show marks and dirt easily. The raised pattern makes it look trendy and stand out from the other black bags. There is some "give" to the sides but I think that's the trade-off for having less weight and I don't think it would be an issue even if I checked the bag--it seems quite sturdy. I don't always love the handles that fit tight against the body of the bag until you pull them up but on a carry-on, it's a desirable feature. This is basically a 20 inch bag and the page stated that it would be 22 inches with wheels but, if you keep the handles flat, it measures only 21 inches. That's another positive, in my opinion, as I do occasionally encounter overhead cabinets on planes that are very stingy on space. Other things I like are the built-in hook for an additional carry-on item, the handles that lock at more than one height, and the fact that you can add a full inch of packing space with the expandable feature. The current price on this bag is quite fair, in my opinion. I would have expected it to be higher for this brand.
