The leather is beautiful but the bag is heavier and larger than I. Wanted. Since it was listed as medium size and there was no alternative, I kept it. I find it helps back discomfort but adds neck and shoulder pain due to it’s size and weight.

I love these bags. I love all the different compartments to keep my stuff organized. There is a place for everything. Most bags just have a couple of pockets. Of all the purses I have had, this is the best for being able to quickly reach in and know exactly where things are. The other big thing for me, is the comfort and shoulder protection. I bought my first one after having a 'frozen' shoulder. I can even put my heavy DSLR camera in this for a family event and it is still very comfortable. I don't even notice it. This is my third bag. My only complaint about it is the quality of workmanship for the price. On my first bag, the flimsy interior lining shredded from a small ring of 3 keys I have for my office, and the firm plastic bristles of a hairbrush. The stitching in the strap frayed. I had it 2 to 3 years. On the second one, I kept those things in little bags to protect the lining. The stitching on pocket on the strap side started coming out within the first year, although I hardly every used that pocket. I sometimes put kleenex in it. I bought a new one, but plan to take that one to a shoe repair place to see if I can save it for a backup. The benefits outweigh that for me. If I have similar issues with this one, I may try to find a similar still from a different manufacturer. I really just wish they would improve the durability because I really love this bag. Nothing better than Ameribag. First bought large microfiber bag for international travel long ago. Then decided the leather bag would be perfect for every day. Have carried leather Ameribag for decades as my regular purse for all occasions--everywhere, every day (except formal events). Get compliments. Am asked where to buy. Have given several for gifts. I first purchased an Ameribag brown leather bag this size about 5 years ago during a trip to Indiana. I carried this bag constantly as an everyday bag until about 4 months ago, when I thought I'd try a "regular" handbag again. My poor brown leather was looking pretty tired after almost 5 years of daily use. After trying to find another bag that worked, and then carrying a regular purse for a couple months that I thought I liked, I finally decided that I missed my AmeriBag and the only solution was to buy another. After loading it up with my things, I felt like I was home again. The pockets are well organized, the silver lining makes it so much easier to find items, and everything is in its place. The leather is good quality, and as I mentioned previously, my last leather one lasted for years. Now I'm 5'10", and this size is proportioned well for my body, and for what I need to carry. I like the way it hangs toward my back rather than weighing on my shoulder. If you are a smaller person, you may want to go down a size. If you want more of a back pack function, you may want to go up a size. But if you want a bag that can carry the daily use items and still have room for a camera, paperback, or those pictures of your kids or grandkids, then this is the bag for you. ... show more

Have carried a Healthy Back Bag for years, stylish or not. Full, it weighs a ton in the hand. On your shoulder you can forget it's there. The quality is superb, the leather is gorgeous, the inner compartments are very handy, and now, in this latest incarnation, there is even a separate zipped pouch that prevents bag guys from using their dastardly special readers to steal your credit card info! I owned one for over 8 years, maintained it because it was worth it. At some point, it was looking tired so I gave into a deal a friend offered for a Rudsak purse. I struggled with it for 2 years until I couldn't deal with loosing my things from constantly emptying the bag to find thing lost in its abyss! So gave it away and for less money than that hard leather, bad bag; I ordered another Ameribag! I couldn't wait for it to arrive and when it did, it was like finding an old friend! So many compartments to keep things organized, there's no abyss because of its design and lays flat when opened so everything is easily accessible. The leather is soft, it's well made, it's well designed and best of all it's back healthy so you can load it up! I'll be replacing this one in 8 or 10 years. It's my trademark now. ... show more

These bags are very nice and durable. However, they are just too large to be considered as a "Healthy Backpack" I have ordered the large and will be returning it. I ordered a medium and I will be returning it also. They are so large that when you put it on your shoulder you look like you have a cotton picking sack on your shoulder. Unfortunately, I will have to see if I can find a location wherein I can actually see what the size is that I will be getting. In looking at the bags on line there is no true visualization that they are as large as they are. I don 't need another piece of luggage I want a purse that relieves some stress on my back and neck. Other than them being so large they are great with many compartments. But, the websites need to do a better job in showing true sizes. For this reason I cannot give a five star rating. ... show more
