I recently received this "Amélie Home Waffle Cooling Comforter Queen Size, Q-Max 0.45 Double-Sided Lightweight Cooling Blanket for Hot Sleepers, Summer Silk Breathable Bedding Quilt for Night Sweats, White, Queen 90" x 90"" and I have no idea what school of sorcery this mysterious Miss Amélie went to, but I'm frantically searching for directions so I can attend! I have been a hot sleeper for as long as I can remember. I've tried so many "cooling" products for the bedroom over the years that when I saw this "cooling comforter," my knee-jerk reaction was, "Yeah, right." But I was curious and wanted to know more, so I looked into it a bit. It didn't take much convincing for me to order this comforter so I could find out for myself. And now that I have, I have to admit that I'm pretty impressed. But also confused. I've tried "cooling mattress pads," "cooling sheets," and even a full "sleep system" that uses water to regulate the surface temperature of the mattress. All have had their pros/cons, but the majority of those items are tucked away in the linen closet, not even being used today. Not so much because they "didn't work," but because they didn't work *well enough* to bother with them. It's only been a few nights with this new comforter, but I'm almost 100% convinced that it's using technology human beings don't possess. It's otherworldly. Alien technology. Something. Whatever it is, I'm loving it. This beautifully made white comforter is billed as a product that will keep you cool. As I said, I've had numerous products over the years which made that claim, but this is one of the only ones that truly boggles my mind. My "cooling sheets" and "cooling mattress pad" all *reduced* how warm I got, but none of them ever *stay* cool. Eventually my body heat overwhelms the fabric's resistance and the material is warmer than I find comfortable. That's just not the case with this comforter and I don't know why! One side is smooth, and that's the side you want touching you if you're going for that cooling effect. The flip side of the blanket is patterned, and while the smooth side is specifically for "cooling," the patterned side is not, so that's the side I'll be using during chillier winter months. I'm so impressed with this blanket, both in its quality as a comforter and its mind-blowing technological advancement. Priced at $149.99 when I placed my order, I see the comforter is discounted (15%) today and is only $126.99. I added another one to my cart to send to my sister who recently joined the "Midlife Menopause Society for Exceptionally Warm Women" and I know she's going to be thrilled when she receives it! We love the color of this blanket! It's such a pretty color of blue! It came vacuum sealed with a pretty ribbon and had an odor from that, but we launder all linens before using and it came back smelling good and it's soft, cooling with a bitch of stretch on the cooling side. II'm currently sitting under this blanket with the cool side down and love it! The waffle side is nice and the smooth side is as well. It's a very attractive blanket and I look forward to using it in warmer weather, but it warmed up today so I'm using it on top of the covers while relaxing in my pj's. It's only a twin, but it's great for using while relaxing in the bedroom or living room or taking a nap. If I continue to like it as much as I do we'll either get a king sized and a few other sizes for the other beds plus another twin or twin XL or two to use on the king bed or in our chairs or sofa for napping or when we want two different covers on the bed. It's very handy to use a regular top sheet and then use two twin xl blankets so we can adjust the bed head and foot however we like it without pulling on one another blankets or we can each add or remove layers if needed. The only thing you need to beware of is snagging the cool side with sharp nails or furry family claws. My nails grow long very fast and I wear the custom stiletto nails we create (we file our stilettos to a sharp point and the long-xxl long square are filed crisp on each corner) and on so I'll be cautious. I can see how cat or dog claws could snag it e much easier, especiallyif they havesharp or rough nails, though, so I suggest folding it up if you're using it as a throw or putting a furry family blanket over the part they sleep on if they sleep with you for those used acrossthe whole bed. The smooth side looks like it would snag easier than the waffle side, but it could happen on the waffle side too if their claws are sharp. I think that most of the cooling blankets and comforters with a stretchy cooling side are at risk of being snagged with anything sharp just due to the type of fabric. We have a cooling comforter that is made of bamboo, but it's not stretchy and it doesn't seem like it would snag the same as the stretch knit. So far I really like it! I hope that doesn't change, but I will update if there are additional positives or negatives.

These cooling blankets are all the rage these days, and there are so many different kinds to choose from. What I like about this one is that it has the cooling side on one side and then the waffle weave warmer side on the other. So you have two options when it comes to this blanket, where many others are the same material on both sides. The one thing that I only recently realized about these particular blankets is that they’re not just cool to go on top of something else, but the effect really is aimed at your skin is touching them directly. So now I’ve come to understand why people forgo fitted sheets on their beds, because this layer is the top layer that rests directly on their skin. I don’t really like to do that myself, but the real utility of a cooling blanket like this is reliant on that. The cooling material, as you might expect, is incredibly cooling, kind of unbelievably so. The waffle weave side is a little bit rough, as waffle weave is, but the material is soft enough that it’s not uncomfortable at all. I wouldn’t mind the weight of this blanket being a little bit heavier. I like a little bit of weight to a blanket, even though I also like to be relatively cool. But overall, this is a nice blanket. It fits the bed very well, and is generous enough in both length and width to cover the bed and drape quite nicely over the edges.
