This unit was pretty easy to put together, although you had to go by pictures to assemble. There were no written instructions, so I tried to count the little rings on the bars. I didn't get it perfect, but good enough. Long shirts and dresses don't work well with this due to the second bar, which could be left off or adjusted lower by someone smarter that I. Love the shelves on the sides for sweaters and such. Would definitely buy again.

It's almost perfect! My old closet system was cheap and I felt like it was going to fall over on me any moment. I replaced it with this shelving unit. Overall, I'm very pleased. My closet is 66" x 24". Pros: Easy to assemble (helps if you've put a unit like this together before) even for one person. I did it by myself in under an hour. Everything was in the package, nothing was damaged. Sturdy! This thing doesn't wobble, and the top shelves and the bars don't bow AT ALL. And I've fairly well stuffed it. The shelves are plenty tall enough to put my boot boxes on their end, and wide enough to fit two boot boxes on a shelf. Cons: The hanging bars are a little too close together. You can choose where to hang the lower bar, and I hung it so that a pair of pants wouldn't hit the floor. The result is that the clothes on the upper bar do hang a little over the clothes on the lower bar. No space to hang long dresses. I put them to the side of the top bar and just didn't hang anything under them. Not really a con, since I knew that going in. It fit so much of my stuff that I didn't purge nearly as much as I wanted to! I would totally buy this again, and I'm looking for a smaller unit to fit my husband's much smaller closet.

Our home came with wire, wall mounted, shelf/clothing rod combos in every closet. And every single one pulled out of the wall at some point. Partly because they weren't anchored into studs, and partly my fault because we have a small home and I'm a closet over-loader. My husband reinstalled them properly but when the living room closet rack pulled out, I wanted to look for a better storage set up that included jacket hanging capability and found this. Love, love, love it. What you need to know: -putting it together was easy, for me. I'm a 63 year old female and I had it together by myself, in under an hour -the clothes rod on the bottom doesn't seem essential to the stability of the unit. I may take it out in the future so dresses would hang freely (and yes, I would have to partially take the unit apart and put it back together, and while it wouldn't be fun, I'd do it. I'd also do it if they made additional shelves available for purchase) -I wouldn't plan on putting anything really heavy on the top shelf in the middle. It would probably support it, but with the split shelf construction it might look weird. Don't know, haven't tried it. I have a very large tub of light bulbs up there (don't judge-long story), and blankets as well -while this isn't a heavy duty, garage appliance storage unit, it exactly serves my purpose for extra miscellaneous indoor home storage -keep in mind I live in South Florida and am NOT using this for heavy duty winter coats for a family of 4 -in my pictures, the storage units on the side of the towers were purchased separately -I probably would have given this 5 stars, but each side tower could have used one additional shelf. I could not find shelves sold separately so in two spots my fabric storage cubes are simply sitting on top of each other, which I'm not happy with. In summary, I had every intention of returning this if it turned out to be a piece of junk, but it isn't and I'm glad I purchased it.

I fortunately stumbled upon this closet kit when I was trying to come up with a solution for my Mother-In-Law’s closet area. The walls were unfortunately either too long or short for the Closetmaid products. I also looked at having Home Depot custom cut me some Rubbermaid shelves as well, but after including all the brackets and such that added up to $240+. This solution for $80 is very very solid. You can even buy two if you have at least 6’ x 6’ area in your closet. As far as the product itself, it’s sturdy enough, but not sturdy as a rock. But it’s more than sufficient. Putting it together is easy too, and only requires on person. One tip that I found odd in the instructions is you want to actually put the tension rod brackets on much earlier in the shelf building process than it says (like the first tension rod bracket should almost be on the first (lowest) bar). The way they have you do it you have to unscrew the top portions to put the tension brackets back on after you’ve already built your two side shelf stacks. I got the chrome metal version of this and it looks pretty good. I’d love for Amazon to offer parts if this to better allow you to customize your combos a little more to better fit individual closets, but this still deserves 5 stars for sure. Tremendous value.

I bought this to organize my elderly mother in law's closet. She wants her old dresser to stay in her closet so I needed something that would allow storage on either side of it and this fit perfectly when omitting the lower hanging bar. It's easy enough to assemble on my own, and when constructed the shelves are sturdier than I expected so we ended up putting some heavier stuff on the top shelves which worked out really well. The shelves are adjustable - though kind of a pain to adjust after they are in place it's not impossible so I'm happy with it. Overall it solved our problem and grandma can reach everything she needs while keeping her dresser where she wants. great purchase!

It took me about 1.5 hours to leisurely put together, the box was heavy so if you a weakling like me you might need some help to carry it where its going to go because you will definitely want to put it together around the spot where you plan to store it. I did found that I needed to borrow my husbands rubber mallet to finish the assembly process so I don't agree that there are no tools required. I wish the instructions gave you a better idea as to where to put the bar brackets. I made a guesstimate that was almost right but it ended up the braces were a little too low and they needed to be moved after the shelf was mostly assembled this requires you to take most of the unit apart and then rebuild. I also wish the top shelf was one piece or came with some hardware to keep it snapped together. I was hoping to be able to place some bins of clothing on top and now worry a bit as to whether that will be too much for it structurally. So I am using the top instead for a few fabric bins that are light with some seasonal items, hats, belts etc. The shelves are a good dimension/size for the fabric bins I already have and perfect size for stacks of jeans and folded up sweaters. Overall I like the unit it has helped organize things a lot and does hold a lot.

It was fairly easy to assemble and adjust. It’s just tedious to do because you have to add a little stopper piece on each bar over and over to keep the shelves from moving/slipping. 4 stoppers per shelf. It took me a good hour and a half to read the instructions and assemble. It’s very sturdy after assembling it though so it’s worth the time spent. I have 3 winter coats hanging and other clothing as well and it holds up perfectly fine. The shelves hold a full stack of jeans in weight. They hold my 20 lbs total free weights I use. My only real issue is that the mats that keep things from falling through the grates on each shelf are too flimsy and the inch of corner edges are not supported as well. I suggest finding another mat that is thicker or just as thick. Otherwise the mats probably need to be a bit thicker for better support if you plan to store smaller items like perfume bottles or things of similar size. Other than that it looks quite nice and is durable as heck. I got it in the chrome. This for sure is one of the better portable closets on the market.
