It is shaped in the bust area with the first seam almost like an empire-maybe a few inches lower. There is only one more seam, creating the bottom tier. The construction of the dress and the black color hides my bloated stomach. The midi dresses with multiple tiers are popular right now but I think this style is more attractive for my 5’4” height since it hits at my knee. Order up a size. I ordered medium and exchanged it for a large. The light blue is a lovely periwinkle blue. Just a beautiful color. The pockets are great. I ordered a medium and am 5 feet 7 inches and about 143 lbs. I thought this was a little snug in the top but I liked how the bottom fit and the fact there is pockets. The fabric is a heavy weight tshirt material and not see-through. The length is finger tip and so it’s perfect for the office with a jean jacket or a nice cardigan. The material of this dress is rough and scratchy. I washed it to see if that would soften the fabric and it developed two holes despite being washed on the gentle cycle. I wish I had returned it instead of washing. It is poorly made and uncomfortable.
