I ordered this dress in both a Medium and a Large. The size chart and the reviews made me think Medium, but Amazon, and my experience with Amazon Essentials, recommended the size Large. The Medium was the right choice for me, 5'7, 145lbs, 34DDD bust line, typically a ladies 10/12 dress (bust measurement being my largest measurement). The size Large was way too big! There wasn't even a question as to which was the right size. If you want this to be cute, then it needs to fit you somewhere. Whether that's your bust line, waist, or hips, YOU have to be able to create some shape with this. So do make sure that when you look at the size chart you have one spot where this is going to skim the body closely, otherwise you're just going to look sloppy. Overall the dress is pretty basic, but it is soft, cozy, and warm. It makes a great base layer on which to build a cute fall or winter outfit. I only wish this had pockets and came in more colors. I am a bright winter color season and the black worked for me, but not the navy, which is a little muted due to the matte finish of the fabric. I am going to try it in the blue heather, as that looks to have a cool, bright, and icy tone. Update! The Blue Heather is a wonderful choice for a Winter! It is bright, clear, vibrant, and icy! I only wish it had pockets! As it is, the dress hangs nicely, better than it would with pockets, and fits well (when sized down). I usually wear an XL, but Amazon Essentials dresses run LARGE. I'm 5'7" and a hair under 150# with about 40" hips, the Large fits perfectly. I have two XL in other styles that are around-the-house only. This version hits at the top of my knee, which is perfect for me. Leggings or none, the dress is warm, comfy, made of a quality material -- not too thick or too thin. The blue is clear, shaded a touch toward periwinkle (so not toward green) but works with my Winter coloring. I have a Bandi belt that I can wear with it which would provide a couple of pockets, and the dress hangs better without pockets. But I love having pockets, anyway. ... show more

I purchased this dress in XXL because I have a large bust and wanted plenty of room. It's a little on the large side but still a decent fit for tomato-shaped me, not overly huge in the hip area so neat enough that I'd wear it to the store or something. If I'd sized down and risked a snug fit around the belly, it might even seem neat enough to "dress up" with a vest, scarf, and boots to look "cute." It's in the wash now, but it was shedding fleece at the first wearing. It doesn't feel like it has a high enough cotton content that I'm concerned about shrinkage. I am 5'2" 125 lbs and ordered a size medium. The fit is nice, and the "dress" is below my knees, so I am staying WARM. I love that it has that super soft dense fleece on the inside that feels so nice against the skin. It does taper a bit at the waist, but it is far from a fitted item. It also uses two pieces of fabric in the back so that it doesn't bubble out at the bum. The material is good quality, and the gray is very feminine. I would describe it as a medium weight fleece suitable for the cold. It isn't stiff and it isn't flimsy. The weight is just right to make a dress that doesn't lose its shape. It is well constructed and will be a regular feature of my stay-at-home weekend wardrobe. ... show more

I bought this top/dress to wear this winter with leggings, and loved it so much I have now bought two more colors! I purchased my normal size (XL) and the fit is perfect. It’s SO soft and comfortable, and to me is just right with the length - I’m 5’9” and the XL comes to just above my knee, perfect. I bought it to wear around the house, but t could easily be worn to church with leggings and boots, or to work, or…so very happy with it, if they made more colors I would probably buy them also. ... show more

I often take a chance with the Amazon Essentials brand and this dress is another great example! The quality is really nice. Not too thin. Thicker than your average cotton dress. Perfect for fall. I plan to pair with boots. The fit is spot on and the dress is made really well. Love the deep navy color. I’m short & stocky. About 5’3 and the hem falls right at the knee. My weight is 180 and size XL offers plenty of room (not too tight). Very pleased! I imagine this dress being super versatile. Sorry for the slightly awkward poses on the photos. I have been on the lookout for a sweatshirt dress and purchased this one based on a review from an influencer. She just looked so cute in it. I am 5’6” and 135 lbs. I normally wear a small/US size 4 (sometimes a 2 depending on the store) and this was a little big on me in the waist and hips. I wouldn’t go any smaller because the arms would be too short and possibly too tight. It was comfortable and just the right length. depending on what you are looking for and where you carry weight this may or may not be the dress for you. I wished this came in a little more in the waist area just to give it some more shape. I have no hips to fill this out so it kind of looked like jammies. That’s not necessarily a bad thing just not the look I was hoping for. ... show more
