It is a little firmer than I expected for a "wet" dog food. Package is fairly easy to open and can be re-closed if you are careful how you open it. My dog loves it. She is 7 years old and has always been well behaved no matter what I am putting in her dish, not for this stuff! She is only about 10 pounds and she is pushing me out of the way if I am not moving quick enough. The texture is very smooth and about as firm as liverwurst, the odor is pretty mild and not unpleasant to me. I feed my dog half of a container with half a cup or so of small dog kibbles once a day. She also gets treats several times a day, so I have no idea what someone else should feed their pooch. My dog highly recommends this and so do I. ... show more

We tried this a dozen different ways and the dog will not eat it. At all. I ended up having to give it away. She wouldn't eat it with kibble mixed in. She wouldn't eat it with a topper put on it. She wouldn't eat it by itself and it was a struggle. It doesn't mean that it's a bad product, and I'm not saying that at all. I'm feeding a 14 year old Chihuahua with not many teeth. She loves this food. I like the price. It's very affordable compared to similar foods. The size is perfect for my 6lb senior. The food is soft and easy to cut up. The smell isn't overwhelming. I like that the first ingredient is meat.

I’m so frustrated by this product. I usually am so impressed by amazon brand products. However we have this as a topper to our two dogs kibble and immediately they began having diarrhea. Two days of diarrhea and they began to be lethargic, bloody stool, and whimpering in pain. $1,800 dollar vet bill later, they have either salmonella or listeria GI infection.
