  • Can’t beat the value of this cover for sedans
Size: Sedans up to 200"
I park my car outside and I live in the southeast, so I needed something to protect against the rain, wind, dust and sun. So far I have found it does really well against the wind with the excellent tie-downs and the snug fit, including the side mirror pockets. In the past, I’ve tried covers without the side mirrors and they tend to allow too much wind and air to get between the cover and the vehicle, creating a parachute effect that either dislodges the cover or allows dust and debris to sneak past it. But I bought a large cover for my 200” sedan and it barely fit (hence the instructions say to buy next size up if your vehicle is at the max size). But I actually prefer the snug fit, as it has held fast during rainstorms and breezes alike. If you’re trying to make this cover work for a coupe or some other non-sedan application, that may not work for you. It has also held up well during rain. I washed and waxed the car first, then covered it and let it sit outside during the rain with the cover installed. I found that vehicle was wet underneath the cover, but that is to be expected, even just from condensation. But, it dried quickly and after the rain and I checked the paint and glass condition, and it is was clean, without contamination from particles or water spots, so it did the job. As for the quality, it is definitely lightweight, but the seams are strong and the straps well attached. That said, if I have to replace it in a year, I would not be upset given the price point. 1/11/24 - Update: the cover has now been through several rainstorms, with very windy conditions and it has remained intact and secure. The car surface has also remained very clean, with no stains from acid rain. The cover is definitely waterproof, because when it has downpoured, I’ve found pools of water accumulating in low spots on the cover, but not underneath. This has been money well spent. 7/13/24 Still going strong! 💪 I haven’t noticed any tears or obvious wear, and it’s now been through various thunderstorms and heat waves. It has kept the paint free from bird droppings and tree sap, allowing me to park it nearly anywhere in our apartment parking lot without having to be so strategic. One thing I have learned after all these times installing it is that I start with securing the side view mirrors first, then pull the front end of the cover and secure it, and finally the back end of the cover. This works even on a breezy day. ... show more

  • Pretty good fit for a Coupe
Size: Sedans up to 180"
With me living in Texas, the weather is always all over the place. One day it’ll be sunny and the next day will pouring like crazy. This past week has been nothing but non stop rain and with my 300ZX having leaking t-tops, water will usually get in leaving the carpet wet. I usually cover it with a tarp but it’s always a pain in the butt to strap it to the vehicle. Not only that but it also scratches the paint! So I opted to try this item out. Unfortunately they did not have an option for a Coupe but the Sedan 180” fit perfectly fine other than being unable to fit the mirrors into the “pockets” of the car cover. Had to fold the mirrors but that’s not a problem for me. The fit was spot on and what I did like where the straps that it comes with. I did not use the strap in the middle since it’ll be hard to reach under my vehicle as I’m lowered but the front and rear straps worked perfectly fine. The cover is nice and secured and I won’t have to worry about the wind taking the cover off. Overall a great cover. It has been able to keep my car dry without having to worry about water seeping into my vehicle. It’s nice and soft and I won’t have to worry about it potentially scratching my vehicle. ... show more

  • Definitely a good value, However....
Size: Sedans up to 170"
I have purchased several of these Amazon Basics car covers over the years. I just replaced the cover on my 1988 Fiero GT with a new one. The previous cover had finally disintegrated after about 2 years. As i mentioned in my earlier reviews, these covers last a little over a year every time. The material is waterproof, however, the seams seem to leak a bit. I'm sure this is due to the holes from the sewing needles. The big brand name, Coverking, has a similar cover made from a similar material and they last about the same time, except they are more customized fitting and more expensive. This cover does not fit my coupe style car, especially in the area of the side mirrors. Otherwise, it fits just fine. Just make sure you get measurements for your car BEFORE you order. Don't trust the Amazon item listing. No matter, I still consider this cover a great value. I will add photos later. Also, I'm not sure why my previous review is no longer here. Hmm. UPDATE: 2024-0508: I had to replace the 170 inch sedan cover for my Fiero coupe now. Unfortunately, Amazon only had used ones available. I received it with at least a couple of cuts or rips and had to return it. I assume Amazon might be discontinuing some of these covers now. This is the second or third size that I tried to replace recently and new ones were not available or they are no longer found. At this point, I will start looking into a different brand unless Amazon makes all my sizes available new again. Even though they only last about a year or so, I still recommend them at the current prices. Just make sure the item says "NEW" before you place the order. ... show more

  • Tall enough for compact wagons. Great value.
Size: Sedans up to 200"
Double layer, comes with useful straps, cheap, and forgiving size. I put it on a Pontiac Vibe / Toyota Matrix, and it fits quite well. Much better quality than the Walmart specials I've been using for many years, and cheaper to boot. I will say the bright tin foil appearance isn't my favorite. Would have preferred like a graphite. But that's nitpicking, and I'm happy with it. ... show more

  • Basic Failure
Size: Sedans up to 180"
I have 4 of these Amazon Basic Car Covers. I use the covers daily during warm and hot months because the elements in Georgia are hard on vehicles. When the covers came out of the box, they looked all shiny and of good quality. After about 8-10 months of the cover doing what it was supposedly designed to do (protect your car from the elements), the covers start to thin out, fade, and fall apart. Basically deteriorating. The fabric thins out so bad and discolors (from the shiny out of the box look), that when you try to use the cover, you have to be extremely careful because it will tear with ease. Mine are torn in multiple places. As they say, you get what you pay for. I tried to contact Amazon for support in determining the warranty or the course of action I should take since each cover started deteriorating in less than a year and I was prompted to email Amazon. I emailed Amazon months ago and have yet to hear from anyone. Forget about trying to call Amazon. If you're lucky to get a person, you will be on hold for as long as the cover lasted. I didn't write a review within the normal 30 days because, of course, there were no issues within the first 30 days. It's after that that you will have to worry about issues. ... show more

  • Best value car cover
Someone else already said it - for the money you can by four Amazon Basics covers for the cost of one Coverking Silverguard. I've had my share of issues with nearly all of the manufacturers, and have owned at least 30 covers over the past 25 years. The Basics 190" SUV cover we bought is just barely wide enough to fit an FJ Cruiser w/roof rack, Mitsubishi Outlander, or other mid-size SUV, but definitely not big enough for a 77-96 Bronco or a Suburban. For the FJ it's not a perfect fit but not bad. The cover material is very similar to Coverking's Silverguard (version without the soft lining), and maybe slightly lighter in weight. It has two advantages over the Coverking - a zippered entry near the door, and three simple drawstraps with quick-release clasps (front/middle/rear) that do a good job of keeping the cover from blowing off. I haven't noticed any difference between this cover and any other cover when it comes to rubbing against the clear coat over time in high winds. Any cover you buy will eventually do this, even the ones with the soft linings. Actually the soft linings can be worse since as they age, the lining attracts dirt that then acts as an abrasive. I recommend against the soft linings for an outdoor cover. Maybe soft-lined covers are OK for indoor use to protect against lightly bumping into the car, otherwise they are unnecessary moisture traps, and as they get older they can take days to dry out in the spring and fall (here in Maryland). Just one bad thunderstorm and most covers will get wet on the inside, or completely blow off and get soaked -- and then stay wet if the humidity is high. If we get a year of service out of the Basics cover, compared to the cost of other covers it will be more than worth it. The most durability we got out of an expensive premium outdoor cover is two years. Good luck with your car covers people. ... show more

  • Not suited for vehicles stored outdoors.
Size: Sedans up to 200"
This cover is great for anyone storing a vehicle indoors, it will protect the paint from any flying debris like dirt, sand, or dust, but it does NOT provide any water resistance other than a very light sprinkle of rain. I had this cover on my Volvo, and it performed excellent until there was a couple of inches of snow on top of it. I pulled up the cover to see how water-resistant it was, and my car was soaked underneath! This can cause water spotting in the clear coat, and it takes a lot of work to restore your paint from these spots. The cover fit the car amazing, no complaints in that department and the mirror caps were an excellent addition! Like I said, excellent cheap cover for cars stored inside, but it does not provide any water resistance that I was able to see. ... show more

  • Good quality
Size: Sedans up to 200"
Nice cover I didnt expect it to be good quality, it has 3 straps to hold it on tight. Fits my 2011 Camaro SS well, a little short on the sides but not by much. Really surprised with the quality for the money . Ive had cheap covers before that were thin and didnt last, I will probably be buying more of this cover for my other vehicles. ... show more
