I bought two of these for my classroom because none of my pencil sharpeners were working well. For the price, I really wasn't expecting much, but these are amazing. You can plug them in or run them on battery. I used them for pretty much the whole school year and never ran out of battery. My student love that they can pick them up and moved them around. Works great! Chose this to replace my name brand sharpener that lasted less than a year. We homeschool so our sharpener is used pretty regularly but not abused and not as much as it would be in a regular classroom or anything. This sharpener is super fast, I like the different tip options and I feel like the vertical sharpening position is easier to keep the pencil still than other sharpeners which helps cut down on sharpening time and will prolong the life of the blade. ... show more

This pencil sharpener does its job well with adjustable degrees of pencil end point sharpness. With 4 AAA batteries it is heavy but makes it mobile.

    • Great for sharpening soft pastel pencils.
Being a pastel artist I have spent as much a s 50 to 60 dollars looking for the perfect pencil sharpener to sharpen my pastel pencils. They have never work very well, frequently snapping the soft pastel lead beforing producing a point on the pencil. But this pencil sharpener is the best I have found. No lie. It will snap the lead occasionally but for the most part I love it. A soft touch is the key. I hope this helps the pastel artists out there ... show more

    • Does not work all the time.
This pencil sharpener works great.... When it decides to work. More often than not I go to use it and it refuses to turn on. It is not the batteries. Something is defective with the design. I noticed whenever I dump out the pencil shavings and then put it back together it won't work for a week or month or whatever it decides. Then all of a sudden it will be working again. Don't waste your money. Poor design, poor quality and it is extremely frustrating. ... show more

This sharpener lets you choose from 3 different degrees of sharpness for your pencils. The sharpest one is TOO sharp for everyday use. Reserve that for finely detailed drawings; for anything else you'll just be breaking the point and resharpening. The middle setting is my choice for most uses, with the dullest reserved for wood cuts that don't have to be precise.
