  • Uses PS/2 connection for sustain pedal
Size: For Performance
It appears that the only sustain pedal that will work with this keyboard is the one that comes with it. Please note in the pictures for this product that the port where the sustain pedal connects has 6 pins. Also note that in the manual it advises you to have the keyboard powered-off when connecting/disconnecting the sustain pedal. That's how it used to be with PS/2 mice on computers. The six foot cord on the sustain pedal is a little limiting if you plan to "stand" while playing. I've ordered a Male-Female PS/2 extension "cord" to give me an additional six feet of slack for the sustain pedal. By PS/2 I do not mean "Oh that game console from Sony". For "fun" I connected an old PS/2 mouse to the "sustain pedal port" and was able to activate/deactivate sustain using the "wheel" on the mouse. This indicates that there's some "proprietary stuff" going on with the sustain pedal. You probably will not be able to use a different pedal with this keyboard. I've owned this product for 3 days at the moment. I like that the keys are solid so that your fingers can't accidentally get "under" the keys. There is a healthy amount of resistance with each key which is probably what they meant by "semi-weighted". After all - the goal is to prevent accidentally hitting "extra notes" during performance. A weighted keyboard gives you more confidence because the instrument supports your fingers. I'm very happy that this product is ready to go from the second you turn on the power. There is no "startup delay" when you turn it on. I am able to read sheet music very well but in order to "learn" some of the more advanced "styles" it helps to use the cascading piano roll available via software or YouTube. I've placed this keyboard in front of a 60-inch TV so that the virtual keys on-screen match perfectly with the ones on this instrument. The price-point and the positive reviews helped me make a purchase decision. But what made me choose this one in particular is that it offers "transposition". I work with several musicians who either need or want the music played in a different key. Transposition lets me play the music as written and adjusts the tone so that it matches the other musicians. I was surprised that USPS delivered the keyboard without "help" from another carrier. The packaging was very sturdy and this keyboard is well constructed and yet lightweight. I haven't tried the other "voices" because I'm mainly looking for a piano sound while I practice. But I am quite satisfied with the "piano" sound and can say that it sounds good and is not embarrassing as others have hinted in their reviews. ... show more

  • Great keyboard for the price! It
Size: For Performance
I’m a big fan of this purchase because it was a cost-effective option for me! I don’t know how to play piano but I’ve always wanted to learn so this was great. It’s a full-sized keyboard with several settings! I love all the features and options it has. It’s good quality and I love having the ability to learn on a full size keyboard that didn’t break the bank. It’s also light and easy to move around. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Good keyboard for a beginner
Size: For Performance
I haven’t played piano before, so this review comes from that perspective. I like the feel of the keys, both texture and resistance to press. It’s easy to find middle C on this keyboard and get my hands aligned. The keyboard is solid in terms of flexing as I play it. I have it on a keyboard stand that I bought along with it. The sound quality is good. The speakers face upward and aren’t too loud or soft. The music stand is solid. I have my iPad on it that I play from and it doesn’t move much as I press on the iPad to continue lessons. The keyboard has a lot of functions built into it that I’m not sure I’ll ever get to, but it’s nice that they are built in. The ability to emulate different instruments, inclusion of drum or percussive instruments, metronome, and other feature are nice. Whether I’ll use them much, we’ll see. My one minor criticism is that the power cord is that perfect middle size where it’s both too short and too long. I can’t kind of wrap it around the keyboard stand to keep it out of the way, but it’s too short to stay out of the way naturally. I wish it were a couple of feet longer. It came securely packaged and worked right out of the box. In all, it seems like a good starter keyboard, well worth the money. I’d buy it again. ... show more

  • Good quality sound
Size: For Performance
I think the keyboard quality is great. This was slightly cheaper than other name brands and brands I shopped for. I am not well versed in quality but perfect for my use in learning to play.

  • So disappointed
Size: For Performance
So disappointed I have been playing an acoustical piano for over 50 years. I have had to move to a small home that my piano would not fit. I was looking for a keyboard that would fit in my home and feel and sound like a true piano. This one does not. The sound is very tinny. The key rebound is hollow. The keys are not full size.the sustain petal barely carries the sound. I am not a professional player. I just play for my pleasure. This keyboard disappoints. It would be fine for a first time learner, I guess, but if you are going to teach your children how to play the piano, get a better keyboard. You know that old adage, “You get what you pay for.” Is so true. I thought that after reading the reviews I would find some pleasure using this one. I DO NOT. This one sounds lie a keyboard not a piano. Like I said before, if you just what to make sounds or a toy for children, this one would fit the bill. But as for a true piano s ... show more

  • Great electronic keyboard
Size: For Performance
Great sounding keyboard, lots of features- spend some time learning to use all the features because it will expand the keyboard’s functionality and the creative ways you can use it. Can be hooked up to midi and used for music production, which is one major reason I purchased this for my son who is studying music technology. I just wish the keys were weighted to give it a more piano feel when playing. Feels more like an organ in that respect. If you want to actually learn to play piano, I would recommend a keyboard with weighted keys. However for the price, and for what we are doing with it, it is a good purchase. ... show more
