  • Compact Bag for Traveling Light. User Care is Essential.
Style: Single
For the price, you get a lot of camera bag from Amazon Basics. Although the camera sling bag has some drawbacks, it's perfect for carrying a DSLR or mirrorless camera, three lenses if you have one attached, plus other accessories. You won't be able to fit a long lens inside, but certainly compact zooms and small-to-medium lenses will fit in two padded compartments on either side of the larger body one. I love that I can switch from an over-the-shoulder bag to one against my stomach with a clip, but that's also where this bag can get dangerous for your camera equipment. If you open it with it slung over your shoulder, your camera can tumble out. The only safe access is when it is positioned in the front of your body. Because the padded lens compartments need that same flap to be fully opened to access them, you risk having one fall out while you're reaching for the other. You have to know this bag well before going out in the field or traveling with it. I like the zippered front pocket where I can place extra batteries and memory cards for easy access. The padded top compartment can fit yet another lens (although it will be loose and less secure) or other items such as a lens hood, flash, or lens cleaning supplies. The top compartment also has an inner, zippered pouch good for memory cards. This is definitely not a professional's bag unless that professional doesn't need a lot of gear for the day. But for serious amateurs like me, it provides a good way to carry gear while keeping it safe. You just have to be extremely careful with how you access equipment. • Great bag - if it fits your equipment
Style: Single
This is a great bag - I'll get to the likes below - and there are many things this bag has that are better than bags at many times the price. But Bottom Line Up Front - the real limit for this bag is the size and arrangement of the cargo/camera area and the access door. You need to have in your mind that you are going to store only a camera for easy access in the camera storage area (and accessory lenses or other items for slower retrieval in the two lower square areas). However, if you have items in this area that would push your camera out of center, your camera may get hung up on the inside of the door, especially if your camera lives to one side or the other of the compartment. (But if you plan for example to store both a camera and binoculars, and want to take either device out quickly, this may not be best). Otherwise, this is a great bag! The strap is comfortable, and the buckles are in the right place. The Y-strap works very well and the clip is in the right place. The strap materials are great quality. The different storage compartments, such as the top compartment, are great, IF it fits your gear set. Inside the camera compartment the CF card slots are great, and the lid pocket can probably hold a filter or two depending on size. Impressively, there is a little microfibre lens towel attached to the inside of the camera compartment! Nobody does that. The rain cover is great as it is attached at the bottom, and the top has a strap to hold it firmly in place - this is a more secure system than that found in much more expensive bags, and it works great - it will also cover a small tripod if you have it in the side pocket (such as a Joby gorilla). This is a very well made bag with very good features, just make sure you don't plan to overstuff the camera compartment or try to set it up for more than just your camera and lenses - or at least other items you rarely plan to get to. This competes well with sling bags that cost $100 - so if it fits your needs and equipment, don't hesitate. ... show more

  • Nice compact bag, but maybe too compact
Style: Single
First the pros ... This is a nice, small sling bag. It's not too bulky so it's comfortable to wear. The chest strap keeps it securely behind you when you don't need access. A quick unclipping of the strap and it easily slides to the front so that you can get into it. The camera area is well padded with three removable inserts that are somewhat positionable. There's a flat outside pocket for small storage with a netted divider. There is a larger top pocket with another netted keeper plus an elastic band that would securely hold something stuck under it. It is not a large area, roughly 6"x6"x4", although since it's at the top of the bag it's narrower at the top than the bottom. Now the cons ... the presumable lens storage pockets are good for short lenses, but my 70-300 zoom lens is a bit too long to fit in them comfortably. it WILL fit, but it bulges out the bag when the bag is closed. I personally don't like that. It feels like the lens isn't being protected enough. Therefore, I stow that lens in the top pocket I mentioned above. It does not have a padded lens divider like the main pocket, so I kind of trust that its length is keeping it from moving around in the pocket. But that also takes away from storing anything else in there. The main compartment is good for holding two lenses such as a kit lens and a prime lens, but not a lens of any length at all. The bag is compact, so don't expect to carry a lot of gear with it, but if all you really want to have with you is the camera body and a couple of lenses, along with some filters, extra batteries, and extra memory cards, it'll do that in a heartbeat. ... show more
