  • Sturdy, economical and easy to assemble Sturdy, economical and easy to assemble
Style: 4-Shelf Size: 13.4" D x 23.2" W x 48" H Color: Black
I needed a sturdy but cheap shelving unit for growing my seedlings on, to be put outside after I'm clear for frost in my zone 5 garden. This item ended up being perfect. I shopped for atleast a week at several stores that sell this item. I put it together myself and it was easy. It took me about 10 minutes. I've modified it a bit, using zip ties and clamps to attach the lights and I attached wire baskets to the sides with zip ties to hold supplies. It's seems to be working well so far. I'm only about halfway finished. The shelving unit is good quality and the price makes it a good value. Pretty much a win win for me. Thank you Amazon. ... show more

  • Easy to Assemble, Really! (I Know, I Bought SIX of Them)
Style: Narrow Size: 3-Shelf Color: Chrome
I may have an addiction to these 'Amazon Basics' shelving units, I just bought my 6th one! I started with the butcher's block/microwave cart unit and was thrilled with it. Then I discovered the tall 5-shelf unit and bought one. I liked that so much I bought 2 more of the tall ones. Then I bought this short 3-shelf unit on Prime Day and got so excited about it that I went back and ordered a second before the sale was over. So let's get the assembly "controversy" out of the way. I won't attempt detailed directions here, but I hope you'll trust me when I say these really are incredibly easy to assemble. And they're perfectly stable and sturdy once assembled. Any review that says these are crazy difficult, or "won't stay together" or that they "wobble" etc have all assembled them incorrectly. Please consider that I have bought SIX of these now, I'm a pro. I can assemble these small ones in about 8-10 minutes leisurely, and the tall 5-shelf ones in about 15 minutes each - and that includes time for me to ponder ideal shelf placement! That's at a relaxed pace and there is zero frustration. Now, I will admit that I was initially perplexed on my very first unit for a few minutes as I fumbled around with the black connectors trying to make sense of them. I too thought "this thing is junk" until I realized I was not realizing how they work. Once I understood the simplicity of it, the rest all flew together with ease and are actually fun to assemble. I could quite literally assemble these with my eyes closed at this point. Watch the videos which should help. But generally: the connectors come in 2 halves that fit together around the pole. Be sure to look for the arrow pointing up so you have them upright. Also look INSIDE for the little ridge lines, this is super helpful. Those lines line up with the single lines on the chrome pole. I actually place them just above the chrome pole line and slide them down until I hear/feel them click into place. The two halves fit together but with a slight GAP. Meaning that they do not close together entirely. They stay in place but will look slightly separated - this is normal! Do not try to force them to fit together tightly, they aren't intended to. When you push the shelf (lightly, there's no need to force it) down over the black connectors, it wedges them closed a bit more. This is by design so that the shelves aren't loose and popping up; they stay in place nicely. Also keep in mind that the black coin-like caps in the box are packing scrap and can be tossed out or repurposed but are not parts for the unit. Lastly, the edging on the shelf goes DOWN. They are NOT lips to hold things on the shelf. You might be able to make it work that way, but it's not meant to be that way. Just know that if you're having a hard time with any part of putting these together, you're doing it wrong. I can assure you, I live alone and have no one around to give me a hand, so I would never buy SIX of these units unless they were super easy to assemble, because I am not a very patient person. These are stable, strong, hold a ton of weight and are extremely versatile, which is why I love them so much. They go with just about any decor style. I have two of the tall units as pantry shelving and a third tall unit in my art studio. I came up with a creative way to use these small 3-shelf ones by putting a 6 foot x 18" piece of plywood over two of them (one at each end with a space in the center) which serves as a sideboard/counter and/or deskpace area in my rustic kitchen where I can roll out bread dough or sit down to pull up recipes on my laptop, etc with baking supplies on the shelves underneath. The leveling feet are handy too. My ONLY complaint is that the prices on these fluctuates dramatically, so I tend to wait and snag one when I see them on sale. I'm considering getting one for the bathroom (towels etc) and maybe even one for off-season clothes storage. They look so classy and nice and the storage and organization they offer is fantastic. These units are some of the best things I've ever purchased on Amazon actually. ... show more

  • This storage shelf is a must have for organization with a functional flare
Style: 4-Shelf Size: 13.4" D x 23.2" W x 48" H Color: Black
I bought this to organize my home salon space, and it ended up being one of the most useful, practical purchases I’ve made. Assembly was very straightforward (no tools needed), and I was able to adjust the shelf heights to fit everything from hair products to larger storage bins. It feels sturdy and doesn’t wobble, even when fully loaded. What stood out to me: Very sturdy for the price Adjustable shelves (huge plus for salon/storage use) Clean, simple look that works in any space Holds a lot more weight than expected Not decorative—it’s more functional than aesthetic Make sure you measure your space first Anyone needing affordable, heavy-duty storage (especially great for salon setups, garages, or closets) I would absolutely buy this again—it’s one of those “why didn’t I get this sooner” items. ... show more

  • Sturdy shelving unit
Style: 4-Shelf Size: 13.4" D x 23.2" W x 48" H Color: Black
I purchased this 4-tier wire rack specifically to create a vertical seed-starting station for my indoor garden, and overall, I’m really happy with it. Putting it together was very straightforward. The instructions were simple to follow, and I was able to assemble it by myself without any special tools, in less than 20 minutes. The shelves slide on easily and the clips snap into place without too much effort. From start to finish, setup was quick and hassle-free. Once assembled, the rack feels sturdy and well-balanced. I’m currently using it to hold multiple seed trays, peat pots, grow lights, and even some heavier gardening supplies on the bottom shelf. It handles the weight well without wobbling. The black finish looks clean and blends nicely into my indoor space without feeling industrial or bulky. It’s been a great way to maximize vertical space and keep my growing area organized instead of spreading trays across our dining room table. The only downside is the plastic clips that hold each shelf in place. While they do work and haven’t failed, they don’t feel quite as secure as I’d like. When clipping them onto the pole, a gap exists on one side, and I do wish they locked in more firmly for added peace of mind—especially when supporting heavier items. Overall, it’s a solid, functional shelving unit that does exactly what I needed it to do. I would ... show more

  • Great Buy!
Style: Narrow Size: 5-Shelf Color: Black
I use this rack in my linen closet. It’s great for organization. I love the size. It was relatively easy to put together. The box was a bit heavy. I’ve been using this for months now and it’s in great shape. It’s a quality material. You can adjust your shelf height as you build it. It may be a bit of a challenge to take apart. It can hold a decent amount of weight and is designed so you could add hooks, magnets, etc if you wanted to. ... show more

  • Strong, Spacious, and Surprisingly Easy to Assemble
Style: No Wheels Size: 36" L x 14" W x 72" H Color: Black
My garage and basement were in dire need of organization, so I picked up this 5-shelf Amazon Basics unit. I was a bit apprehensive about assembly when I saw the tall box, but it turned out to be quite straightforward – no tools required except maybe a rubber mallet (which helps but isn’t absolutely necessary). The shelf comes in parts: poles, plastic connectors, and the metal shelves themselves. The poles are in sections that you stack; the design uses black plastic split sleeves that snap around the poles at whatever height you want each shelf, and then the shelf slides down over them and locks in place. I appreciated the adjustable height feature because it let me customize how much clearance I have between shelves. For example, on one shelf I spaced it taller to fit paint cans and a taller shop vac, and on another shelf I went shorter spacing for toolboxes and smaller items. In under an hour, I had the whole unit up and stable, and I’m no expert – just a patient retiree with some DIY enthusiasm. Once assembled, this rack is solid. Each shelf is rated for up to 350 lbs when weight is evenly distributed, and while I haven’t tested the upper limits, I have loaded some pretty heavy stuff on there. Currently one shelf is holding a mix of heavy power tools (circular saw, bench grinder, etc.) and maybe 200+ lbs combined – and there’s zero sag. The black powder-coated steel looks nice and doesn’t rust (important in my sometimes damp basement). It also comes with adjustable feet so you can level it on uneven floors. My basement floor has a slight slope, so I just twisted one foot a little longer and the wobble was gone. If you plan to really max out the weight or have it free-standing with kids around, you might consider anchoring it to the wall (there are no included brackets for that, but a simple L-bracket would do). In my case, it’s tucked against a wall and even when I shake it, it’s very stable due to the weight on it. One of the best things is how much it decluttered my space. With five full shelves, I managed to get bins of holiday decorations, camping gear, and miscellaneous household tools all up off the floor and neatly organized. It’s amazing how vertical storage can create so much more room. The shelves are wire-style, which is fine for most things – smaller items I put in plastic bins so they don’t tip. One small caution: when assembling, make sure the plastic sleeves are well seated in the little grooves on the poles and that the “top” of each sleeve is aligned at the same groove on all four poles. I made the mistake of having one sleeve slightly higher on one pole initially, and the shelf wouldn’t slide down. A quick adjustment fixed it. Also, use a light tap from a mallet or a piece of wood to ensure each corner of the shelf is fully down on the sleeve, then it’s rock solid. I actually ended up buying a second one of these units after seeing how useful the first was. Now my garage has one too, holding car wash supplies, oil cans, and even a cage fan (the fan I use for drying floor finish, not my wife’s favorite item – but now it’s got a spot!). This shelving unit proves that you don’t need to spend a fortune for strong, dependable storage. It’s functional, no-nonsense, and gets the job done, which is exactly what I needed. ... show more
