  • Great product for a compact and fruitful garden whether indoors or outdoors.
Color: Off-white
This is a great product. It was easy to assemble, and fill with soil and plants, easy to water. I did place it on a roller and even within a boot tray. The roller was to move it around in front of the window, and the boot tray was to protect the wood floor underneath from any possible spills. I never had a problem. The greenery and the few flowers were enlifting to have growing. I LOVE this product and heartily recommend it. Have fun. ... show more

  • Great indoor solution to growing herbs, will just need to keep turning it to get proper sun all over
Color: Off-white
I wanted to grow my own herbs for better flavors in my cooking, and this seemed a great solution for my apartment. I have a lot of light coming through my windows, so felt I should have more than adequate sun all year round for herbs. The tower has worked great. I've been able to plant several different types of herbs, and they're thriving. I haven't filled up the entire tower yet, but I can't imagine having any problems. Easy assembly, is great to be able to fill up the tiers at my own pace, just adding on another tier as I finish adding plants. I might want to get a turntable, though. You need to turn the tower to make sure all the planted herbs -- if you've planted something in every opening -- get proper sun. Not a big thing, and it's light enough for most people to be able to turn it enough to get good coverage overall. Caution! Since I haven't filled the entire tower, and I've only planted on the top two tiers, I've noticed the tower is top-heavy. I'm going to get more soil to put in the bottom tiers just to keep it stable. I don't want the tower falling over and destroying my herbs or my floor. Just be careful when you set it up that way. ... show more

  • Great concept, needs tweaking
Alright so this might be a long post, bare with me. Pros: First of all, these are thick which is great because they'll withstand the typical greenhouse abuse that's expected, you get 15 slots and they have soil separators. The soil separators are a great feature because potted plants tend to get root bound, the separators create air pockets beneath the soil so that when roots hit the air they stop growing and send a signal to the plant to send out new roots. From personal experience I can tell you that you'll get better growth and yield at harvest time. Now onto the cons and the following are the reasoning behind taking stars off. Hopefully the manufacturer reads this so that improvements can be made. Otherwise I will follow the cons with a section on how to adapt the kit. Cons: First and foremost, drainage is wrong. The location that put the drainage holes makes it so that water pools in the bottom of each planter level, maybe that's their intention but that creates a mosquito haven in each level. Second, the slits in the soil separators are too wife and allows for soil to get down into the pocket below which will lead to a mold situation as i had observed, mold is bad. Third, and this is on me not the manufacturer however they should note in the instructions to not go over 5 levels unless you have a center support to prevent toppling. Trust me, I learned the hard way. 😞 Now onto advice and solutions plus plans i have to upgrade these kits, which i most likely will buy many more. Again, they're not bad, they just need tweaking. So as to the drainage, I suggest you drill some holes in the flat portions of the bottom so that you don't have standing water and silicone seal the premade drainage holes. Use a strip of window screen which is cheap and silicone it over the drainage holes you drilled to prevent insects, especially mosquitoes, from getting inside. Now onto the soil separators, cut to fit landscape fabric or window screen to prevent soil from getting down into the "aeration pocket" to prevent the drainage holes grom getting clogged. Third, do not go higher than 5 unless you have a center support. A 6 foot rebar pounded into the ground will suffice and prevent toppling. Improvements and tweaking i plan on doing. I am going vertical in my greenhouse next year so i plan on making improvements so I can achieve my goal of growing a lot of food in a small foot print. I will have sonotubes 2 feet in the ground with a 6 foot rebar in the center and concreted so that the base is stable. I will attach steel turntables/lazy susans to the concrete bases and bolt the tower bases so that the entire tower will turn freely. Using construction adhesive, every other level till have a beating glued where the venter hole is so that the plastic isn't rubbing against the rebar. Yes i know this is over engineering but doing these improvements will allow for tall towers and prevent tipping or toppling. I am also going to find a way to add an automatic watering system so that each tower can be hooked up to the irrigation system I have plumbed in already. In closing, these are really good towers and are thick. Depending on how you intend to use them will determine how well they work out. If you plan on having them stationary on a deck, then I would recommend the new drainage holes along with the screen/fabric and you can go 10 high. If on soil, then please add a center support so you don't suffer the failure I have. Now if you plan on going gonzo like me which would be 10 levels high with turntables so the towers can be spun not just for ease of access, but to provide every plant equal amounts of sun, then you have the blueprints i laid out above. I do plan on buying more because greenstalks are so expensive and my upgrades to these will save a ton of money, just make sure you come up with a game plan based upon hownyou intend to use these. In the future I will post pictures as an update and if the manufacturer wants I'll provide them with photos so that customers can see the different ways of utilizing these towers. ... show more

  • Perfect for herbs!
Bought this charming planter for my daughters 6th floor city balcony and it’s just the right spot for herbs. Now if she could just keep the squirrels from playing on it!

  • Amazing for balcony herb garden
Color: Off-white
We love this planter, I bought it to experiment with growing herbs and veggies on balcony and make a better use of vertical space. It worked out great. It is light-weight, easy to set up, and provides a ton of space for plants. I had a great success growing chard, lettuce, basil, dill, mint, peppers. Now I am experimenting with radishes. One thing to keep in mind is that plants should be arranged so that those that need most light go on the top and those with less light needs to the bottom. The whole planter with soil and plans is not heavy and can be moved around. Each level has a water reservoir at the bottom and that helps prevent over watering and provides water retention. All in all, I love it and would happily get one more. ... show more

  • These are super easy to set up
These are a great size to start and grow lettuce in. HOWEVER, one side of the tower will not really get a sunlight and will grow unevenly. So, I laid all of them out flat like planter boxes. They are a great depth and also have a grate to prevent the soil from sitting in the water. My lettuce is loving them! Pretty well made for the price! ... show more
