  • Good for the money but instructions lacking
I've used the watch for several days now and overall I'm very happy with it. It's a good size and fits my wrist well. For the money the feature set is outstanding. I don't sleep with it on but I've worn it all day for 3 days and it's still at 91% power. At this rate I think I can easily go for over a week, maybe two, between charges. The biggest problem is the total lack of instructions on how to do ANYTHING on this watch. The box has a tiny booklet written in several languages telling you how to charge, download the app, and pair. That's it. Nothing that tells you how to use any of the features, how to changes settings, nothing. So I'll try to cover some of that here. I did stumble across a PDF document online for the Amazfit Bip S that covered a few things I couldn't figure out on my own. It was on bcebos Dot Com so google is your friend. The always on function is nice. I wish the brightness was adjustable for that. You can adjust the brightness of the watch when it is "on" but not for the always on display. Which I think is a shame. Outside it is easy to see but inside all I can make out is the time. You can swipe the main screen in all 4 directions to get to different controls. There are a few different watch faces stored on the watch and the app has a bunch more you can use. Swipe up for notifications. Down for a small control panel that shows power, time, date, brightness control, screen lock, do not disturb, and music control shortcut. Not sure why that last one is there since you can swipe left to get to the music control instead. Swiping left takes you through things like music control, weather, heart rate, steps, and PAI (some kind of "general heath score"). IMPORTANT: you must allow SMS permissions or the watch can't see your music. Took me forever to find this out. I had blocked SMS access and it couldn't see my music. Once enabled it was able to see and control my music, but you have to start it on the phone first. I have seen different apps listed as the correct one for different Amazfit watches. I used the Q code on my watch face and it took me to the "ZEPP" app. This also needs work. Badly. It is very counter intuitive HINT: In the ZEPP app if you want to change settings for your watch click the "profile" button on the bottom. Under "My devices" your watch should be listed. Click that and it will take you to a settings page. The app can also act as an Exercise Tracker but they have this hidden. I stumbled over it by accident. On the main page at the bottom are 3 buttons. Homepage, Enjoy, Profile. Just above those is a tiny grey bar. That is a swipe bar. Pull up on it and it shows some settings and tools to track Walking, Running, and Cycling. I did a walk while using this app and Runkeeper at the same time and they were a dead match for distance, time, and route. But Runkeeper gave me 100 calories for my walk where Zepp gave me 200. I trust Runkeeper more. So I'd use Zepp for distance and time but not for calorie calculation. Overall I'm happy with the watch. For $50 it's pretty amazing. But I had to dock it 1 star because both the watch and the app are difficult to decipher and I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't spend the time to unlock it's potential. If they included a good set of instructions for both the watch and the app it would be a 5 star item easily. ... show more

  • This watch is AMAZing
I have not worn a watch in almost 20 years, relying on my phone for everything. I did not want all the features of a watch fully connected to my phone with all the bells and whistles (and less battery life), so I thought I would get this thing and see how it worked. My primary use is heart rate and sleep feedback. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 1) The packaging was impressive. I was surprised at the quality of the box it came in....felt really solid and protected the contents. Very well packaged. 2) The watch feels amazing. Not having worn a watch in a very long time...this thing is super comfortable, very light and has tons of features. 3) With a short run and work out, wearing it while I sleep (had no problems sleeping with it), and monitoring it during my first day....love it. Lots of data. I also compared the sleep data to an app I use on my phone. The results were very close, but I feel like having the watch on me will give me better data. 4) A short test of the pedometer with 100 steps shows it was exactly on. Not even 1 count off. Better than some older pedometers I have tried. 5) The APP is packed full of features, even updated the firmware as soon as it connected. Super nice. 6) Battery life...battery life...battery life. This watch does not have GPS, but I was more concerned about getting a good battery life out of this. 7) The always on display is not super bright, but is clear enough to read without turning on the display...even the very small text, though some people may have problems with the small text. You do have LOTS and LOTS of options to change the display , so no problem finding one that has what you want on it with very large text. Pretty amazing display I must say. 8) I'm actually using the watch as a watch much more than I expected. Back to having a watch means I don't need to get my phone out everytime I want to know what time it is....actually kinda cool. 9) It even has weather details for my location. WOW, that is really cool. CONS: 1) First impression of the user manual, not much to it. It seems to be made for you to download the app and start playing with it to get used to all the functions. If you like playing with electronic toys, then this is great. If you want to know exactly where all the menu items are before you start doing things, not good for you. Takes a bit of time to get to know where everything is, how the app works , etc. 2) Does not have all the features of some upgraded watches...but (as mentioned above), that's what gives it a great battery life. In Short, if you want more features or phone connectivity, this is not the watch for you. If you just want what is advertised for this watch....it really delivers with lots of options. This product was obviously well thought out, well designed...for everything from the packaging, to the watch, the app and the options on the watch. Update: After almost 5 days of usage, I find that in order to get really good battery life I had to reduce my heart rate sensor to once ever 30 minutes (in app) . Even at once every 10 minutes I was losing significant battery life (with most other features besides sleep monitoring turned off). The good thing , is that if you set it detect excercise (in app), it DOES increase monitoring level when doing a sports activity (if you set watch to log excercise either with long press button short cut, or select an excercise on the watch). Already looking at upgrading for more features, but will wait as long as I can before spending more $$. ... show more

  • Battery life diminished
I want to start with the fact that I am a fan of amazfit. I was a pebble guy way back. And loved that these guys pretty much brought the pebble concept up to date with the original amazfit bip. I bought my wife and myself Bips a few years back and we loved them. Her original one had a glue problem (face popped off one day exposing the circuitry inside). The parent company replaced it quickly. So point for that. Last summer we decided to get new bips.. but now there were many choices. A main draw was the long battery life of our original bits. They lasted about 4 weeks at the time we decided to refresh. We looked at the choices from amaz fit and eliminated the higher end display models due to lower battery life. Decided on the bip s lite model. Seemed just like out existing watches with no GPS (figured the GPS was a slight power draw so maybe we would get more life out of the battery. Already long story short... my watch currently gets about 2 weeks just telling time (no workouts or music playing). My wife's gets more life. I think more than three weeks. I went to the amazfit website to see what I could do... the faq says to turn off my phones bluetooth. Not an option. I use Bluetooth frequently...(and the old watch was fine with that).. If this isn't a defect I would not recommend this model. Of it is...thst depends on how amazfit responds. I'll update as appropriate. ... show more

  • Bang for buck!!
Color: Sakura Pink Pattern Name: Tracker
I ordered this watch because I wanted a samsung watch but didn't want to pay the price. So far, this has been an awesome watch. It keeps track of my steps and the app was easy to download (I'm not text savvy).
