Better than the last flag that I bought, at least it’s metal. The last flag we bought on Amazon for our pontoon boat had a plastic mound and stripped almost immediately. It’s now located at the bottom of Sage lake. This one is metal and will definitely hold up better. Keep in mind, once you mount this it will be staying put until you get your tools out again. The people complaining of it getting frayed probably have it flying upwards while driving down the road at 60 miles an hour. It seems to be made Very good quality nylon and metal.     • It fits perfectly and securely to the standard railing on my Boston Whaler.
I like the security of the mounting and its proportions. I found that the attachment clips were a bit fussy to fit. I have not tried it out long enough to determine its durability, but will be testing in around sea water, which will corrode the metal or not . . so far so good.

Made sturdy and should last a long time. The flag material is of good quality and the pole is made well. The bracket that holds the flag is plastic so it can only take so much tightening. When pulling to the lake the clamp slips a little allowing the flag to lay down some. When I get to the lake I just pull it back up in position and it stays while out boating. I guess you could put a metal clamp on it for highway speeds if needed. Works great on the boat. Would buy again. ... show more

I saw reviews that said this would be flimsy. It's not so bad. I live in NY and keep my boat docked and after a hurricane and a nor'easter it's still flying strong. No rust either. The plastic mounts are kind fragile though so I'm afraid to overtigthen. The result is in high winds it sometimes tips sideways a bit. ... show more

Looks great, easy to install. It is pretty cheaply made, wouldn't install in a high traffic area but I usually get 2 seasons out of this.

Unfortunately the opening provided does not really fit on the metal bars on my boat. Had to take electrical tape to add extra security.

    • I used this on my bow rail to hang my ...
I used this on my bow rail to hang my burgee. It works well, but force of the wind causes the flag to fall over and the clamp slides on the metal bow rail. Might be helpful to have a small piece of sheet rubber to prevent slipping.

It's supposed to fit an 1 1/4 rail, it did not I had to buy longer screws. I think the shaft should be longer to keep the lower end of the flag further away from the clamp.
