I just ordered this for the second time. The first one lasted over five years when I lived in Florida. The base broke during a storm and I continued to use the bowl. When I moved back to Maryland the bowl broke due to freezing and thawing. Since it’s ceramic it is a bit fragile but so attractive that I thought it was worth replacing. It may be a good idea to bring it inside in the winter if you live in a place where it freezes. ... show more

This item arrived with both bird figurines broken off, and with lots of chipped coating. At first I thought that it somehow got damaged in shipping, but it was packaged perfectly, and the box was undamaged. This doesn't seem to be a fluke because many other reviewers are saying that their item arrived in the same condition, or it fell apart very quickly. I returned this, and replaced it with Amazon's bestselling bird bath (at the time of review). The replacement is taller and wider which is nice, and is sturdy enough once you add water and add some pebbles to the base to weigh it down. ... show more

I purchased this birdbath two summers ago, and as other reviewers have mentioned, it started crumbling when the weather got a little colder and wet. I contacted Alpine who requested I send pictures which I did and they promptly responded that they would send me a new one free of charge as soon as their backstock was filled. They said it would be January and sure enough, and late January a box showed up and it was my new birdbath. Well the birdbath is pretty fragile and not really something. You would leave out your round if you have four seasons like we do in Washington state, it’s adorable and the company is amazing. I bring mine in when the weather becomes inclement and leave it on my covered patio and it’s still looks like new. I put it back out in spring (no more threats of freezing weather) and so far so good! I would recommend just make sure you don’t leave it out in winter. ... show more

This is my first full sized bird bath & it did not disappoint. I wasn't sure if any birds would ever use it but eventually they tried it out, now every day they get in it. I haven't seen them but the water is brown & only halfway filled so something must have gotten in and frolicked around. I'm glad too because it's been so hot out recently. I'm glad I can offer a little break from the weather. The fountain itself is very pretty & I love the antique look to it. I'm glad I purchased this one as opposed to the concrete ones. I never like to review something until I have used it long enough to establish its durability. This is a really beautiful fountain. Aesthetically it is really well designed. It is stable, even in our Florida storms. I would take it in during a hurricane, but it held up fine during a tropical wave. I have no added any weight to the base, I just wiggled it and sunk it into the sand a bit. The bowl is easy to remove from the base for cleaning. It is a bit deep, so adding some rocks on one side that are at the edge of or just under water will come in handy for some breeds of birds, as well as the pollinators. So far I have found native pollinators drinking from it, cardinals bathing in it very early in the morning, and something drinking from it at night because the water level drops considerably. Whatever that is has not knocked it over. Last night there were even some squirrel tree frogs singing by it, so they might have gone for a swim, or were there to catch insects from the fountain light attracting them. I would highly recommend this to anyone. And by adding a fountain, you don't have to worry about mosquitos laying eggs in there. It really adds to the beauty of our naturalized garden. ... show more

Very stury and pretty bird bath! So many I saw online were very small or very shallow, not this one! The bird bath comes in two pieces, the bottom piece is hollow, you could put a brick vertically in the bottom of it to keep it upright if you wanted. The bowl twists on.
