  • A classic reborn
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
You play Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood. In this classic, we learn about the characters and solve the mystery of the Dark Man. This game is a classic reborn and messes with your head. And with difficulty settings, this makes the game so much fun. I enjoy it. I am proud to call this a new modern classic. ... show more

  • A modern take on the series' return to its roots.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
You can tell the developers have genuine love for the original 1992 game, while also adopting gameplay elements from the modern Resident Evil remake titles. The gameplay isn't perfect - it can be a tad on the easy side, and combat can feel a little janky, but it makes up for it by actually retaining survival horror elements, beautiful environments, fun characters, a solid soundtrack and an engaging story! This is an actual survival horror title, meaning it may not be for everyone; combat is not the priority, and there is a lot of back-tracking. Also, similarly to the original, there are notes you can find that are pretty long but are actually voiced. This is not a remake, by the way, but a reboot! It borrows elements and characters from the original story but the narrative itself is completely different. If you're a survival horror fan, give it a try! I think it's fair to say that Alone in the Dark is officially back! :) ... show more

Game is similar to the game alan wake. If you liked Alan wake you will like this. Don't listen to bad reviews. Similarity to resident evil as well without the zombies. If you like the two games listed above you will like this.

  • Safe Reboot
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard Edition
Very basic survival horror: exploration, backtracking, puzzles, and combat within a mansion setting. It’s more on the former 3 than combat. Combat is the weakest aspect of the game if you're into that Visuals feels early last gen: PS4, Xbox One generation You can play as 1 of 2 protagonists: Emily and Edward Both play the same, only with some puzzles and locked safe combinations having different numbers attached to them You play through the same events with different cutscenes and very minor changes in order of events. It’s more of a ‘what if (your this protagonist getting hallucinations instead)’ scenario rather than each protagonist off doing their own separate thing with intersecting events like in Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways DLC. Wish it was the latter as the former just a hassle to play through again having to play a different story timeline instead of connected scenarios There are 5 chapters. First play through can be completed in 7-8 hours, subsequent playthroughs can be completed in around 3 hours since you are more familiar with the mansion layout, location of where hidden items are and how to solve the puzzles. There are 5 different ending depending on your choices in chapter 4 and how many Lagniappes you collect. Just make 2 separate save files on chapter 4 and make sure you collect all lagniappes items so you can get all endings in 2 playthroughs --Story/Plot : Emily hires a detective, Edward. They go to Emily’s childhood mansion home to check up on her uncle, Jeremy and investigate rumors of a cult. Emily’s family has a history of mental issues. When they arrive they find Jeremy missing, so they go around searching the estate. While this is happening the player you play as get hallucinations of demonic beings turning it into a horror mystery --Gameplay Heavy on exploration and backtracking. There’s a casual and traditional mode. The former giving you hints on map on where to go, and marked completion of rooms explored. I don’t like how door close on their own once you open them. Yeah there’s a creepiness factor but some areas look the same and can be disorienting finding out you went into the to same door you entered instead of a new area for the first time There are Lagniappe or hidden artifacts to collect Puzzles are very simple. Most are solved through exploration and by reading notes you collect Gun play is also bad. At times there is bad hit detection. You can shoot point blank with a shotgun and it has no effect of the enemy. Guns don’t really feel impactful when you shoot. You have options of pistol, shotgun, machine gun, and a flare gun. All obtained through various points in the game. No upgrade system, just scarcity in bullets There are health bottles you can collect and use Stealth is not good in this game. Able to throw objects to distract enemies. You can crouch but it just makes you walk slower so you don’t accidentally run/walk into the enemy. I don’t think the enemy can hear your footsteps, just have line of sight. You can’t even stealth kill or attack enemies Overall, had fun unraveling the mystery. Standard survival horror fare. No real new gameplay innovations, or set piece/story moments I will remember years from now ... show more
