The Kindle 10 inch HD 2023 is the third Kindle I have owned. Overall it's a terrific innovative tablet! My first Kindle, a 7 inch grayscale with button keyboard (still works for reading) serves the purpose as an E-reader but unfortunately the letters wore off the button keyboard. I liked the buttons on the sides to advance or go back a page. The second, an 8 inch Kindle Fire HD (2011) is solidly dependable and I still read with it. I got the new Kindle 10 inch HD mostly for compatibility with library apps & the bigger screen. I'm not a hugh fan of touch screens but that's how it is now. It's smooth and colorful, I got it with lock screen Ads disabled which I recommend as they're annoying. It's great for watching movies and as a reader. I'm happy with it aside from a few annoyances: #1 documentation sketchy, no PDF you can print- there is on device help but can be difficult to find what you're looking for and if a problem with the tablet there’s no help. A user manual is available but you have to buy it for ~$10, kind of an insult for a device I paid near $150 for. #2 My 2nd. gen Kindle Fire uses primarily .mobi format E-books. I've been collecting books for 15 years so I was a little annoyed when I found out the new Kindle wants .epub format Ebooks if you want to send them to the device- so I have to convert them back to .epub. Books are readable on any Amazon device but are converted to a proprietary format on the device for DRM and unreadable if you copy elsewhere. I was one of those suckers that bought the $40 tablets on Black Friday years ago and they were completely useless and horrible. Made me not want to buy a tablet ever again. My step mom has one of these and I liked it, so thought I would buy one for myself. It's pretty fast working, and works very well for what it is. I have no major complaints. I use it for small things, though. Searching Internet, booking hotels, a game or two and etc. Graphics are very good, too! I can watch my Amazon prime on here and visuals are great! Things to note: -I don't think it's made for major usage. Multiple gaming, apps and etc. -Google play does not work here, so your existing games you love so much (!) may not be available on the Amazon app store. (Mine weren't) Also, had an issue with the Amazon app store not working upon initial arrival. I reached out to Amazon via chat and they fixed it within 2 minutes! Seriously! This is the best purchase I have ever made, and I'm super picky! I am going to be brave and try to use this for minor school usage and see what happens. I'll update when I do :) ... show more

I like it but I'm not impressed. The tablet is exactly how it is described. Fast and with a quality display. I primarily use a tablet for viewing movies, downloaded videos and maybe a little Internet. Nothing that includes the word "work" associated with it. I traded in an old 7 inch Android tablet that I was using for the same purposes. These eyes are older, I need bigger and this met my price point on sale. That being said it's time to provide some information on the huge differences between Amazon Fire and Android tablets. Apps are how we live on them and you may be disappointed in the app availability for the Fire. Not just availability, but lack of newer, updated versions. Some of the available apps are rimming 2 or 3 years since their last update. If you want to visit the web you're pretty much stuck with the Silk browser that comes with it. It's a good browser and secure mostly but if you have some 3rd party apps designed to be available on other platforms such as a calendar or password keeper, don't count on any extensions or syncs being compatible. The Fire Tablet is pretty much self contained, it's not interested in the rest of the world and while it operates under the Android 11 umbrella it uses its own set of rules. Cross platform use does work with OneCloud and Google Drive. It's getting the apps for that to work on the Fire that's the issue. An example is a password keeper that is downloadable from the Amazon App Store and will install and operate on the tablet just fine. But the browser extension used to grab passwords from its cloud to fill in automatically on logins won't install on the Silk browser. I am tech savvy to a point and I like to test the limitations on devices. The Fire maxes out fairly quickly. So, going back to what I was saying before, I use it for viewing videos, mostly while flying, and this has a great display to do that. ... show more

Such a great buy for the money! My first AMZ Fire 10 lasted for around 5 years before it would no longer charge. Fortunately, I received a $30 credit when I sent to Amazon plus I received another perk for a discount off new Fire. It's a great buy for the money. Only problem was when I chose to buy one for my son the items was shipped and programmed for a child under-age. My son is an adult! Took almost an hour to resolve the issue because first Tech obviously did not know what she was doing and the language issue was like someone that had been speaking English for a short period of time. After 45 minutes she disconnected call! When I requested another call that Tech was awesome and did not take near as long to adjust the Fire for my son. Apparently there is some issues for Amazon to correct when adding family member that lives in same household to Amazon Prime account. ... show more

I got this as an upgrade from the old version. It works faster, smoother, etc. The only note I have for them is to expand and update their App Store. I had to install the Google play store to get most of my apps. Other than that and a few apps not being available for this model it’s a really good one. I stream tv/movies and read the kindle books I’ve bought and surf the web and use T i k T o k on occasion and it’s good for all that. Good battery life too. ... show more
