Update: unfortunately, these have become yet another item where you cannot be assured of receiving a new product. Note that 'condition' is often no longer specified on many listings, including this one. I recently ordered two more of these shirts , one was fine, in the manufacturer's packaging; the other was clearly a return, in an LPN-marked plastic baggie, and the cause for the previous recipient to have returned it was equally obvious, given that it was stained (big dye marks) over much of the shirt (obvious to even the most casual of inspections, and without removing it from packaging). I have returned for a replacement. The takeaways for me are that quality control/assurance from the manufacturer or seller is not what it could be, and that Amazon's widely complained about issue of shipping out returns in place of new items continues to worsen, at least in my experience. I would add that the 'free returns' policy that once induced me to purchase this item, is now the 'hey, why don't you consider yourself an unpaid Amazon employee, package it up yourself, print out the label yourself, fire up your vehicle (we understand you get gas for free!), and drive it a few miles over to someplace more convenient for us (we understand your time is also free!)' policy. Slightly less inducing. On a completely unrelated note, I see that the manufacturer has its own website. Fancy that! ---------------- If you are a older, pale-skinned Alaskan of Scots ancestry, it can be just a wee bit challenging to pull off a compelling 'suave, tropical, gentleman' look. Somehow though, this shirt makes it possible. Well, almost, anyway. :) Seriously, if you want a light but not flimsy, stylish but not garish, cool and comfortable but not translucent summer shirt perfectly suited to cruising in the convertible, hanging out on the beach, going out to dinner, and dancing at dusk under the string lights of a cabana somewhere in the South Seas, this is your shirt. Also works well whilst slacking it under a patio umbrella in your own backyard. I got two on spec, and such is my experience with online clothes shopping, that I probably wouldn't have had done had it not been for the 'free returns' policy. Happy to say that these will not be getting returned, and once I validate how they stand up after a few washings, I am planning to pick up a couple more, because finding a good shirt is hard enough, but finding a good one at a price point that makes you feel clever for having gotten such a good deal is a real rarity. For reference, I am five foot eight, about 200 pounds, stocky/muscular build, and the Large fit quite well - not at all snug (I don't want that in hot weather), but not at all sloppy either. I imagine the medium would be fine if I was looking for something more fitted. Being a little on the shorter side, I also appreciate that the fit is probably designed for 5'10", rather than 6'. Could it be a little more perfect if it was tailored to my exact size? Sure. But the hemmed edge lies perfectly under the curl of my fingers, the sleeves end well above my elbows, and I don't suffer from looking like I am wearing someone else's shirt, which can sometimes be the case with mass market clothes - I would guess these would fit well for most guys from about 5'7" to 6'1" who plan to wear it untucked. Finally, I would add that the number of compliments and the amount of positive feedback I have gotten, especially from the ladies, is really quite surprising, particularly at my age. I kinda supposed that some of the other commenters here might have been talking a little trash, but no, even my wife of 30-odd years holds my arm a little tighter when she sees another female look in my direction. You know, just to make her claim clear. Gotta love that. :) Eat your heart out, 'I don't often drink beer, but when I do, I prefer XX' guy. I bought this shirt for my boyfriend, and he absolutely loves it. The linen and cotton blend feels lightweight and breathable, but it is not see-through, which was really important to us. The fit is perfect, and the fabric feels soft while still having a nice structure. The pattern looks great in person, and the quality is even better than expected. I like the color and the fit and the buttons and the stitching. I expected a lighter fabric. This fabric was solid and not airy. The neckline opening was wider, or deeper, or more revealing than I wished. The buttons are sewn onto a placket that is not stitched down. For the most part, this worked well, but there were a few times that it folded up and began to peel back. I expect this gets more common with time, as the fabric softens and becomes limp. After just over a year of regular wear, the fabric tore through at the back of the sleeve near the seam. Perhaps the fabric weight helped keep it together so long, but I was really looking for a lighter fabric that breathed better. ... show more

I have bought two of these shirts in different colors! They fit great and the cut on them is ideal for wearing it buttoned or open! Beach days, weddings, cookouts, days on the boat, and so much more! If the weather is nice, this shirt is the one you want. The fabric is soft and light so you won't overheat on those hot days too.
